@Swallow ... not really ignoring - well... yea i guess i do... i do not do skype atm.
btw. update
treewyrm had cleaned up the concept model of the bomber to 2500 poly - which is more than acceptable for a snub - especially a snub of a not too popular faction.
but - that was like early last year - the dev team never contacted me about those models ever again ( although i do not do skype - i acknowledge who tries to contact me ) - so i have to assume that those models were not desired, no matter the polycount or state they were in.
as far as i remember ... the only ppl i was in contact with was someone from the coalition that expressed desire for those models - but since they are not the dev team, - especially not the one deciding on what goes in or not in terms of models - that is rather irrelevant.
designwise - i think those 3 models had received mostly positive reviews ... but i do agree that it would probably not take long for ppl to get tired of those designs, too - especially when they do not provide players with an edge in pvp - and you better believe that those rather large ships would NOT make you pvp gods compared to your current flat daggers.

Anything but flat Daggers, I've discussed this with my members again these days and they all agree with me in this. I'm sure it can be ballanced somehow. All we want is to give this unique feeling the Coalition Remnant faction deserves (because the Intro is the only source we have on their Ship design). I remember alot in my past "Freelancer" days (not just Discovery), many would've loved to just fly those ships from Intro.
And I saw SCRA had this potential, they had it once, but the models weren't realy good designed as appearantly it caused trouble with hitboxes etc. <- but nobody expected that they would miss those Wings down models from Intro either.
So for the sake of nostalgia, I'm sure there is a way to ballance it, even if it wont be a PvPwhore ship, the current insurgent tbh isn't a PvPwhore ship either so it wont make a big difference.
Moving past the indirect CR joke Snake made. The only reasons the old ships were changed out is due to the fact that A: They were unbalancable by the devs at the time. and B: The quality was nolonger in accordance to Discovery's Rules for Model Submissions.
I miss flying my FL-Intro inspired Fighter. Although we would also need a HF Model to replace the Saboteur. X_X
Properly sized and hitboxed these models CAN be successful fighter/bombers and bring back the authentic 'Coalition' feel of the faction (Leave my Dessie alone however. >_> I love that thing.) ^_^
In addition it is proven that this model 'style' CAN be balanced as seen with the Gaian's VHF. It just requires alittle time and careful tweaks to make it viable.
I have no problem returning to the old models, though I would probably do a reskin of them.
Jinx, your fixed models by Yuri were never received, and I'm not sure I see the point of using them anyway when the old ones can be made workable with a simple reskin.
Ooooooooh, something unexpected if the old models realy could be reskinned and hitboxes and all fixed, that would be realy awesome!
Maybe the current skin on the snubs the Black ones with Coalition Flag, would be nice (well whatever I dunno how that's being done, you're the dev). (bow)
Sorry for the delay in commenting, RL has been busy with me house-sitting for my aunt while she is away.
The old models reskinned and re-balanced/hitboxed would be nice plus perhaps using one of Jinx's models for a Saboteur replacement. (perhaps his version of the Partisan. ).
All in all it would give the Coalition it's own unique feel to it once again rather than the Dagger-Clones that we have at present and remain in line with Coalition Lore (With the snubs being similar to those from the FL Intro). I am curious how they would look re-skinned/textured in accordance with the current standards for quality. In any case I will be available on Skype should a more indepth discussion be required on this matter.
Not next update, but maybe sometime late spring or early summer. Just have too much on my plate right now unless @Hidamari or @DartStriker want to take a crack at it.
