As for the equipment and stats:
- 1 class 6 gun or even no gun at all, just CD launcher
- 1 CM dropper.
- super LF shield (still need to be made)
- Hull: half or maybe 1/3rd of a LF hull
- Shield: half of a LF
- core: half or less of a LF
- more agile than a LF, faster in cruise and thrust and impulse.
- No cargo capacity (only ammo for the CD or CM)
- No pilot
As for my idea how to RP it:
- can only operate in the main house system or the guard system or main system of the faction it belongs to since it's remote controlled,
- no pilot, so "it" cannot talk.
- Do I need to say that engaging with this would be stupid?
- can only operate for a short time due to it's reduced fuel tanks.
Yeah, a recon drone. Nice idea, but perhaps a little bit problematic to make work properly. The distance restrictions might be broblematic. I'd disable the ability of the drone to go through jump holes. Since trade lanes and Jump gates are actually network nodes for neural net and communications, it would make sense that the drone can be further away, if he is in a system with at least one Jump Gate...
We use Gitanos as drones for our two capital ships. They basically look like something remote-controlled, and since Light Fighters aren't made for combat anyway, they have the optimal characteristics to be inRP flown remotely. inRP, we don't allow them to fly in sensor-dampening nebulae, and also only in house space (network access) or together with one of our other ships.
Shouldn't we be encouraging people to interact with each other, rather than giving people something that they can use to watch people, without having to talk to the others around them?

What prevents people from talking with drones? If you control them remotely, you can also add voice + audio to the control link. That's how we do it so far, and we have a simple excuse for not having our chars dying horribly when losing a fight.
