Now that is the key sentence. As Ven said, we need something new that we can use for RP. I myself was always a fan of anomalies such as the one in Omega 3 , NY and I don't know where else. It gives you an opportunity to RP, I'd be so happy if there were more of those things. Omicron systems are perfect for that.
I think that the Omicrons were killed when Order got their new system and when Toledo got destroyed. Also the Alaska - Minor connection was pretty good where LSF/LN was fighting both Order and Nomads. Omicron Minor for example a this very moment is a useless system, same goes for Omicron Mu. I would suggest Alaska to be re-connected to the Omicrons so we can see more interactions.
Also one spark is enough to make Omicrons active again. Look the Freeport 11 drama thing for example. Something bizarre happened and boom! Lots of activity, tons of factions involved. I am not saying that something stupid should happen, but maybe an event that can boost the activity there. Make something interesting, I am sure that lots of people have different and interesting ideas. So yeah, event could do the job, if executed correctly.

Regardless of the idea, the only way it's going to work is if the systems containing those features have their nav map disabled (like Omicron 92), and to add an even bigger challenge spread everything above and below the plane, hide jumpholes and stations in nebulas and make them unrecognizable by the scanner. An example of that we currently have is Airdrie Hideout.
Basically, you can't find them at distance because they're in the nebula, you can't consistently find them by the sector because there is no nav map, unless you maunally write notes about it, and even then you have to go below / above the plane and manually search for it until you physically see it, because they won't get detected by your scanner at all. Now THAT's a real challenge, and people could actually get lost. Otherwise people just use the Nav map as reference, most of the things are easily accessible, and there is no true sense of being lost or feeling scared. Sure, it'd last for a week or two, but people would then tell each other "hey this cool new thing is in C3 sector, go check it out", and the nav map on the forums would be updated, and there goes all the mystery those systems were supposed to provide.
I think that back in time, those systems were abandoned and very few action can be found there but now time pass, and the systems being explored more.
Accordingly, new factions arises and new conflicts between them arise too, example "The Core" and "Order" fights. I think that maybe it's time to add more unexplored systems to act like the Omicrons few years ago. I like the idea and good luck discussing and processing that
Yeah I totally agree with the need for new systems. At least a few. I always thought omicrons should be high risk high reward environment and I still treat them as such, but it would appreciate it if the danger was more PvE oriented.
- very little human NPC presence (if at all);
- human bases to be a maximum of 1 in each system;
- more jumpholes that connect those adjacent systems;
- unique minable content with custom asteroid models or other replenishable type resources (organisms, gasses, you name it);
- remnants and wrecks of Dom K'vosh (could be ships, derelict hyper gate, some base or other);
- nomad NPC activity in key places of these systems (not everywhere, but in important places);
- areas where cloaks cannot function;
- unstable jumpholes that can spit you out randomly sometimes across Sirius;
- perhaps some remnants of another alien race, hostile to nomads and everyone else (like, a still functional structure that fires upon everyone and does crazy amounts of damage);
Just some thoughts
Special promotion on cloaks. Made In Donesia.

The very reason why I personally love Omicrons is their atmosphere. The feelings of uncharted and dangerous worlds, where no men had presence, where the unknown life lies behind. I will agree on the fact that even Tau-37 seemed more mystical. But for now... It feels like Omicrons are almost settled. The only systems that keep such atmosphere, IMHO, are LXP and Unknown. Omicrons used to mean an unknown risks and mystic atmosphere, but for now... They're just a high-dangerous area with edgy people. Also a home for Nomads
There's a lot of suggestions of how to bring this old atmosphere back and I'll summorise them: make human presence lesser, add more antient things, mysteries and etc. That will make Omicrons more intertaining.

I removed something from here that would not work. Everything else is cool.
I'd love to see lots of unexplored and yet-to-be-rped-about space. Please, do it
