So... I've been thinking about this particular thing for a while, and I would like to hear opinions of another people.
As you know, freelancers are limited to 3 600 cargo space if they want to use legal ships. FL-ER is doing a lot of base supplying for various people and groups and it is taking quite a lot of time. Now, I'm not that idealistic to think we could get bigger limit into our (theoretical as of now) offi ID, isntead I was thinking about one faction owned SRPed 5Ker. However, while SRP rules are clear whan it comes to individuals, they don't mention factions or anyting like that.
So, what would be your opinion about a 5K transport, bought from some bretonia faction with this Special Operative ID:
Code:
Pilot carrying this quasi-lawful ID is a Freelancer, who:
Can attack any ship in self-defense or to protect an friendly or allied ship.
Can only move within Bretonia and directly neighbouring systems.
Can only carry comodities used by Modular bases.
Cannot participate in unlawful actions.
RP - wise, a ship bought probably from BMF, ment to do the bulk of the regular supply jobs the faction is contracted for, witin the House of Bretonia.
Now, the SRP rules say this:
Code:
6. The SRP application must have an extensive forum background, and the content linked in the request must either belong to the applicant, or be a group effort with the permission of everyone involved to use the material for the posted SRP request. It should be internally consistent and consistent with the mod lore.
and this:
Code:
7. Coupled with the forum backstory, the character which is the focus of the SRP should have a server presence of at least one month, building up the character ingame in a "legit" ship, rather than simply magically appearing after the SRP is granted.
Now, it's obvious the character itself can't really have any background or RP, BUT, this would be request for a faction and not one player, and the faction itslef has quite the background and exists for quite long time.
Any opinions?
P.S. We are not in Flood, so no memes or insults please. Only serious posts.
That would be a very reasonable SRP - you could ask for a bigger ZOI and have it operate under standard Freelancer terms with the bigger cargo. You don't need to limit yourself to that degree.
There is an expectation that SRP ships have an above-average standard of ingame roleplay, so the SRP ship, even as a base supplier, would have to give high quality, satisfactory RP when encountered. SRP characters are considered to be "important" characters by those that encounter them, and are easter-eggs for players who run into them. They are also held to higher standards concerning rule violation.
- ship is mostly restricted to 1 player who may use it (no sharing allowed);
- you've gotta have a well-written story about the ship and pilot (when, what and how it happened);
- choose your ship wisely if you don't want to have the "srp-er's regret"

Well, the question is, is this enforced by rules, or is this because no one thought a bit out of a box about trying to get a SRP for faction and not an individual? Cause the faction I'm talking about - [FL-ER] - has more than enough background and RP to justify one 5Ker. We have a long term supply contracts for at least 5 PoBs if not more. And that's just a tip of the iceberg.

The only possible issue I see is that as a Freelancer - you can virtually trade with anyone. It should have some restrictions on it, otherwise it'd be overpowered.
- but, seeing as there's an area restriction, that's suitable.
Though I've heard if you're going for a faction shared - it'll have to be a faction perk request for some reason.
There should be a bit more of a background than just, "We purchased it. Now we supply. " - maybe go into statistics.
SRPs are here to support unique roleplay. Not to serve as a way how to easily get around ID restrictions for 250 million credits. Otherwise there would be ton of Freelancers with "I bought 5ker so now I can fly it, here is the fee" so called SRPs.
So if you want it, someone has to work for it. You were already given example how it could look like. Your past roleplay as faction does not matter, it must be roleplay related to that ship. It should not be about one thread where you ask someone for ship and he will sell it to you.
Everything basically must be related to the ship so if you can find things your faction did that joins the needs of getting the ship then it's worth to mention.
But in an SRP it is an extensive explanation through RP and story as to how you got that special something.
Try your best not to take short cuts and think of it as an elaborate essay or book you are writing that explains in the end everything about how the ship got to your hands.
It should be pretty tight in explanation.
