This is as much for organising my characters for myself as it is to provide references for other people trying to find the biographies behind the ships with names. I should have written a lot of this stuff down somewhere a long time ago, rather than just keeping most of it to chat in-game and in my head.
Born in the city of Courcemont on Planet Le Mans, Lucie grew up in a curious mixture of circumstances. Though born into a noble family, their home planet was as close to a frozen waste as Gallic civilization came. Though Lucie's family could easily afford to heat the entire mansion she grew up in all year round, the biting cold was never more than a few metres away.
Lucie expressed an interest in joining the Royal Navy as early as the age of sixteen, having seen richly decorated and esteemed family friends at every gathering and party she was taken along to. Her father, Archimbault, supported the idea, thinking of the added esteem his daughter could bring to the family name. In addition, he was confident that he could get his daughter positioned directly as an officer due to the family's social status. On the eve of her nineteenth birthday, Lucie boarded a liner bound for Planet New Paris, where she had been accepted into the renowned Champs-Elysees Academie Militaire.
Life at the academy proved harder than Lucie had been expecting. She found the warmer climate of New Paris very discomforting, and she did not endear herself to the rest of the aspirants at the academy. Her personality was as icy and harsh as her home planet - the young cadet won few friends during her studies, and kept none after her graduation. Nevertheless, the societal clout of the LeBlanc name pulled through, and after a few years with the rank and file Lucie was awarded both the rank of Capitaine and command over a small snubcraft wing assigned to the defense of Ile-de-France. The glory was minimal, the position merely a nominal one - she was just expected to keep up appearances and receive a long service award and pension at the end of her "career". It was exactly the opposite of what she had wanted.
Lucie immediately filed a transfer request to her superiors, requesting reassignment to Languedoc, where The Council was waging war to liberate the system. Though the motion met with resistance, she eventually got her transfer, and in 731 A.G.S Capitaine Lucie LeBlanc personally joined the Second Gallic War.
Nobody had expected the icy, inexperienced Capitaine to actually accomplish anything in a real warzone, so it came as a shock when Lucie and her wing began scoring consistent victories in skirmishes with anti-Royalist forces. While she was as mediocre a pilot as everyone had predicted, Lucie had a flair for tactics that made her a formidable and ruthless squadron commander. Over the course of the war, Lucie was promoted several times within the Secondary Fleet, having proven as capable at commanding larger operations as she was with small-scale snubcraft skirmishes. Rumours that the zealous commander often failed to distinguish between military and civilian targets were quickly quashed in light of her stunning operational efficiency, becoming minor blips on LeBlanc's journey up the ranks. The excellent results of her commanded operations spoke for themselves, drowning out the often questionable methods behind the outcomes. With Gallia's military doctrine stagnating decades behind their advances in technology, Lucie's flair for strategy and tactics distinguished herself from her peers on many occasions, leading to her establishing herself in the position of secondary fleet Colonel before too long.
Rumours or not, Lucie's position as a secondary fleet Colonel left her shielded from the turmoil that befell the Primary Fleet in early 736 A.G.S, and once the dust had settled she found herself as one of the suitable candidates to continue the leadership of the Royal Navy. Lucie was only too glad to accept the honour.
An Ainu-born idealist-turned-profiteer, Komachi Kurosawa was one of the many sisters to part ways with the hardliners among the movement after Kusari's change in government. Never really a believer in the cause, the fractures that rocked the movement post-reform were the catalyst for her partial breakaway. Packing her scant belongings into her Blossom, she waved goodbye to the main line of the Sisterhood's cause, setting out from the relatively tranquil skies of Hokkaido to a more rich hunting ground - the asteroid fields of nearby Tau-23.
Arriving on Cali the day after, Komachi cut an unimposing figure among the asteroid base's regular comers and goers. Her Sisterhood-related credentials - coupled with her trademark upbeat personality and a few favours on the side - were enough to secure her long-term accomodation, as well as a parking space for her fighter. Following this, the young Chrysanthemum became a regular fixture both on the base and in the mining fields beyond its rocky walls, ripping off miners and evading the Guild paramilitary in equal measure. Occasional forays into Kyushu and Kusari proper also met with success - and, during a daring heist involving two trains and approximately ten thousand tons of freshly-mined gold ore, even led to her meeting a local band of Junkers, a then-ragtag band of hooligans calling themselves the Junker Marauders.
That chance meeting in Kyushu orbit sparked a sequence of regular co-operation between Komachi and the Marauders, which continues to this very day. Now equipped with the contacts to move large volumes of 'stolen' cargo from miners too stupid or too stubborn to provide her with electronic funds, Komachi's profit margins soared through the roof, and it wasn't long before her collection of ships expanded to match, with two Orchids and a Sabre being delivered to the nearby Freeport Ten for her use.
This status quo continued for a further four months, before - inevitably - Komachi grew bored with the meager quarters she was afforded on board Cali, as well as the amount of shuttling back and forth she was required to deal with in order to access her flotilla moored at the Freeport. As such, she called in a few outstanding favours of her own with the Marauders, acquiring a modified Pilgrim liner and suitable crew on a long-term lease in short order.
Now freed from the confines - spatial and otherwise - of operating out of Cali Base, nineteen-year-old Komachi has mobilised her Liner - christened the Slice of Paradise - and expanded her range of operations to Kusari proper, although her primary focus on the rich fields of Tau-23 is unlikely to go away any time soon. While she is far from being the most intelligent girl around, Komachi's unquashable ambition and determination mean she is still a credible threat to shipping in House Kusari and the neighbouring Border Worlds, having recently been spotted operating as far afield as Kepler and the Sigmas.
30.01.2017 Komachi Kurosawa finished, Lucie LeBlanc added but incomplete. Charlotte DeFrance, Kyouko Sasaki added but hugely incomplete. Bare bones for everyone else major added.
