Introduction des Royalistes Gaulois- Introduction to the Gallic Royalists
Soldiers of the 27th Royal Regiment in ceremonial armour.
Once noble and entitled warriors, now but a bunch of raiders now who live from theft and thuggery. Unbowed to defeat the Royal Navy suffered by the end of the Second Gallic War and its Sirius continuation, unwilling to surrender to the Gallic Union during the Reunification; The Gallic Royalists represent the very last of the flame once burning bright - the traditionalists and loyalists to the Crown and royal dynasty, radical fanatics following their beliefs and image of the perfect state: they are but what left of the once mighty Kingdom of Gallia.
Having the joint command located aboard the flagship of Royal Navy's remnant, the Resurgent, the Royalist remain badly organised in comparison to ghost of the past they pursuit: the Gallic Royal Navy. Keeping the old traditions of the naval service, they develop new tactics suitable for their state, fighting in the war long faded but never ended. Each group of the Royalists considers their vision the most accurate and viable for the future they fight for.
Although rumoured that the Royal Heir is in charge of the Royalists, no evidence of this was provided since the Reunification, that said, no evidence for the contrary was ever presented as well.
Contexte du 27ème Régiment Royal- Background of the 27th Royal Regiment
Formed in the early years after the outbreak of the Second Gallic War, the 27th Royal Regiment was one of the formations under the command of the Burgundian Royal Navy. Composed mostly of the sons and daughters of lower nobles who had not inherited anything of their families generational wealth amassed over the past centuries, these opportunists saw an army career as a great opportunity to get on their feet and earn the fame and prestige needed in the hierarchical society of the Gallic Kingdom.
Along with this minor nobility came the peasants, whose skills elevated them above the rank and file cannon fodder that was the vast majority of the non-natives in the king's army. At first the gulf between the two groups was wide; the nobility, however small, wanted nothing to do with the peasants, however clever and skilful. In time, however, they became one family, as they went through battles and lost common acquaintances, mourning them together and avenging their deaths on the enemy.
Loyal to the Crown, the soldiers of the 27th Regiment have seen for themselves that the only power capable of keeping Gallia from falling is that of the Monarch, capable, intelligent and charismatic. King Charles excelled at all this until he began to lose credibility as a consequence of making unpopular decisions which led to public discontent. The attempt on the King's life only exacerbated the situation as all the heirs to the throne were scattered across Gallia, each in their own way serving their father.
When the coup took place, the 27ers did not hesitate to join the Royal Enclave promising to restore true power - but how disappointed were they when, instead of systematically overthrowing the treacherous government, the Enclave became part of it, resulting in the creation of the Gallic Union. Being only a relatively small regiment, with one battlecruiser converted to a light carrier, the regiment faced many challenges on its road to reunification with the last Loyalists, who sought at all costs to return power to one or the other who deserved it by right of blood.
