I was just on my Pirate in Munich fighting another player when all of the sudden on the Console it said I had killed someone that wasn't even in the same system I was in. Has anyone else had this happen?
Nevermind, it's a game bug which happens often... afaik it's already in developers' waspital.

This has been a known bug for close to 5 years. Don't worry too much about it.
I remember the first time this came up that I specifically recall, ProwlerPC, Athenian, and I were doing training practice with our S/D ships. We saw a death message that said Ath had killed someone on the other side of Sirius. Anyway, what apparently happens is that, with all the assorted communications that the server makes with everyone's computers, is that player A gets killed by ... something. As that information makes it up into the server, player B fires his weapons. Somehow the packet on player B firing his weapons gets juxtaposed with the death of Player A (or for that matter, with some NPC firing their weapons) and you end up with a death message that doesn't reflect reality.
Either way, it's not a big deal.

I swear it makes me think of that butterfly effect.
