For those of you who play EVE online, stuff's going down right now. N3 didn't pay a bill, a system became neutral, and CFC ninja'd a station which was used as an outpost by the former, potentially capturing thousands of ships. Over 100 Titans were destroyed already, each which cost about $1,500 and 2 months work to build.
They don't and kinda do at the same time. See, the way EVE works, ISK can easily translate into actual money. 1,500$ is the worth of a Titan when you consider all the ressources used up to build one (say, if you were to sell it for profit instead of using the ressources to make one huge vessel).
I am always amused why so many people play this thing.
This is not real thing anyway the isk money is like the american dollar, you can always print more and more as long as you have people interested in using/spending it.

Wolfpack (server host before Makjp) tried to get me into EVE back in 2007. I didn't, and ever since than I look at EVE and go "meh, I'm to far behind now". It's still fun to watch this drama and everything. "EVE, the most fun game I'll never play."
I heard about EVE Online back in 2004 even, when I pretty much got on the internet. But then I ended up sticking with Freelancer and OGame...and a year later Guild Wars and then following about a year after that WoW.
Really wonder what would have happened had I started to play EVE back then, since I don't quite got many problems with spreadsheetism. (Hell...I played the X-game series...can it be any worse than the excel sheets used to calculate the mega complexes?)
Nowadays I feel like it's "way too late to get into it". Also I doubt I still have the patience for it. And I had my fair share of annoyance in games already, I doubt I could stand what I heard about the EVE community nowadays anymore.
Love reading about those humongous battles though. Reading. I'd not love to be there, reading how they took HOURS to even actually jump into the battle and how the game slows down to pretty much "zero" ... I already hate that in other games, I could not stand it for such "an important fight". So...who knows. Still like reading about an epic battle and I really hope Star Citizen can come close to that (or even better: could beat it). I REALLY doubt that Star Citizen will have anything anywhere near such fights though.
