This thread has just been started and will be reviewed periodically.
I hope these Q&A's can be helpful.

Quote:1: I'm new. What do I do?
Depends on why you are here. Pace yourself, set a first goal and enjoy the journey there. Remember to read the Server Rules.
You can allways ask one of The Angels for advice.
If you are here for the roleplay, see no.5 and have a look at this thread.
If you are here for the shooting, see no.6
2: How do I earn some money? iRP - Join a trading company, mine ore and sell it, pirate the poor traders. (Mining Guide)
ooRP - Search the Neural Net or use Companion to find a profitable route and grind that.
3: What is the Neural Net?
Roleplay term for the Discovery Forum. The Comms Channel is where players communicate with eachother.
4: What is iRP and ooRP?
'in RolePlay' and 'out of RolePlay'
5: I want some fun encounters, where do I go?
The Neural Net. Announcing your arrival and presenting your character on the Neural Net will increase your chances for a meaningful encounter. Otherwise, flying around the same systems for a while can earn you a reputation. Maybe there won't be many encounters in the beginning, but at some point, the word will reach the right people.
6: My lasers are only pretty when they light up. Where are the targets?
If you want head-on PvP, Conneticut is where you want to be. Use the command /conn, when you are docked, to get there, but sell all your cargo first. It will be lost.
Remember that server rules still apply there.
If you want to do some roleplay shooting, you can either play as a pirate, law enforcement officer, bounty hunter or security for a company. You can do all these things without joining an official faction, but it's a good way to learn quickly.
Remember to read the server rules and your ID before you charge your lasers.
7: There's a faction I want to work for, how do I fix my reputation?
a) Simply use the /restart command, but be careful. You will loose all your things on that character and given a completely fresh one with only the same name.
b) If you want to do it the old-fashioned way, you need to buy some bribes or do some jobs for the faction you wish to work for. Then you can buy an ID at one of their bases and use the /droprep command to correct your IFF.
A good thing would be to apply with the faction on the Neural Net. It is not required, but the are many advantages of being a member of an official faction.
8: What's an IFF
It means 'Identification Friend or Foe'. It shows other people who your main affiliation is. It will take the no. 1 on your reputation list (the flashing one in the bottom) and display it in front of your name. It does not determine the rules of what you can and cannot do, that's what the ID is for.
9: I want create something. What is there?
Discovery is neat in the way that you can influence the world by adding something to it.
a) You can create a story. When you meet people in the game, the interactions you have with them will sometimes find their way to the Neural Net. That way, your actions becomes part of the lore.
b) You can create a base. This is a demanding task and very diffcult to do alone, especially because it will need a constant attention and a steady flow of supplies to survive. You should not attempt to do this alone.
c) The biggest creation you can make in the game, is a faction. Many of the factions that are official today started out as unofficial player groups. Starting a player group isn't hard at all, but the road to official status is long and timeconsuming. See the Tutorial for more.
