"James..... His name is James Lambert, and he's from Liberty...." she hesitantly added "He works for the Navy." She didn't comment on Nevaeh not being able to reach James. By this point, she had returned to the stony faced girl with an indifferent attitude. She watched her fix the bed and sighed slightly, Nevaeh was only trying to help, she could see how hard it was for her to do so.
She is just like the rest. She wont wan't you before long. The voice in her mind had returned, shaking her head Pita stood, but didn't move towards her. Her question about Kepler was expected. Despite this, Pita didn't have an answer for her - and she didn't want to tell her why. After a few moments she shrugs slightly "I was exploring because I got bored.... And I got lost...." It sounded like there was more to the story but she fell silent, leaving it unfinished.
He's... in the Navy? Do you know how mad the other girls would be if they found out about this? If they didn't trust and love me as much as they do, they'd have me killed. she looks around panicky, no longer thinking rationally. Pita, why wouldn't you tell me that? she says in an extremely concerned voice. What if he found out you were here and he thought I stole you? I don't know what some of those Navy pilots are capable of. she starts to shake, having a panic attack. Pita, is it... true what someone said about you being a Rogue? A very... horrible one at that.. when you were sleeping I left the station for a bit, and there were these strange people(//The Wild), and they told me stuff. I specifically asked them not to tell me of your personal life though. I know they could've, but I wanted you to trust me. To know that I'm not here to harm you. she goes into the other room, still very easy to talk back and forth, and smokes some cardamine. Nevaeh is scared, for herself as well as Pita. Nev is very unsure if she can trust this... James Lambert or not. With him in the Navy, that's a scary thought. She thinks to herself "Well... he did help this girl out.. he did save her life from what it sounds like..." she begins to tear up, and hug Pita No one just gets bored, lost, and almost killed all in one setting. Pita, it's okay if you don't want to tell me... she pauses to think about how Pita hates being touched, but at this point it's too late, but she lets go and gets on one knee to talk to her; at her own (height) level But do you remember the promises I made to you? The ones about protecting you? The ones about getting you back to James? If James is still a pilot for the.... Navy.. we'll find him. They have to have a large database about that stuff or something... she stops and thinks about how she just asked Pita if she was a Rogue or not. She tried to remember that man's name, the one she didn't recognize when she said some of the people who cared for her, but she drew a blank. Worried that Pita might be angry with her, she tries to fix it, Umm, about what I said about you being in the rogues or not.. you don't need to tell me. But.. maybe if you wanna talk about it we can. I know that if you with them, you must've been really needing someone to help you. Maybe it was kinda like how I helped you? Maybe they wanted to help like I did? she realizes she's still talking about it, and shuts up. Well, when you're ready to sleep you can. Okay? You seriously only got like... two hours of sleep. But you and I can talk for awhile. If you want to ask me stuff, you can. So you can know who I am maybe?
Pita shook her head, Nevaeh's reaction to this was uncalled for as far as Pita could see. "I never told you because you never asked." Pita said simply with a shrug. "He is a good man, and wont hurt you."
Pita, is it... true what someone said about you being a Rogue? A very... horrible one at that..
This comment got Pita's back up. She had been asked whether she was a Rogue before, this did not worry her. The fact she was accused of being a horrible one upset her. All she had done was try to survive. She had never intentionally hurt anyone. She turned her back to Nevaeh, an attempt to unwind before her anger took over "I was born a Rogue."
As she was hugged, she pulled away from it. "Don't." She warned Nevaeh quietly. Pita wasn't enjoying this kind of attention. She hated being touched at the best of times. Hugs provided security, and this worried Pita. If she didn't allow herself to open up and become hopeful of a future where someone doesn't leave - she wouldn't be disappointed. Her attempt to fix the question about the Rogues was slightly amusing Pita, but she didn't show it. Instead she just turned away to look out the window. "I'd rather not talk about it"
She didn't say anything back to her once she mentioned talking for a while. Pita was still upset about the comment of her being a Rogue. She was lost in thought as she shook her head.
Nevaeh looks at Pita for a bit, with her back still turned to her. Nevaeh is scared for Pita. She thinks to herself, I know Pita wants to be with James again, but... while he was taking care of her, she managed to almost get killed. I know Pita trusts him.. but she has good reason to trust him, and he does for her. But... what if he just... hates me? Nevaeh says quietly I'm sorry. I'm sorry for all these bad things that happened to you, and I'm sorry for calling you a "Horrible Rouge," but those weren't my words. Pita, you're a beautiful young girl with such a bright future ahead of you. You can literally do anything you want to do. If you want to be like James and join the Navy you can, if you want to live a peaceful life you can be a trader. Really, Sirius is full of second chances and opportunities. You're starting to become a grown up, and grown ups sometimes have to make tough decisions, and work hard for what they've got. she stops talking for a bit. She's trying her absolute best to see a bit of hope in Pita's eyes. All Nevaeh wants at this point is for her to genuinely trust her, to give her a chance. But she's began to worry about this James Lambert person. What if all he's done for Pita is a facade? What if he just wants to get into the Rogues using her? these thoughts run through her head as the name comes up. What if I have to break the most important promise I've made to her thus far...? What if I can't help her find... James... she'd never trust me. She'd trust me even less than she does. I don't think she'd understand my reasoning or anything.. she lets out a loud sigh. Pita, please. You're not the only one scared right now. I am too. And -- she begins to get a bit teary eyed. -- I could really use a hug too. she stops herself from even attempting then quietly says Please, I really am doing the best I can for you. Trying to make you comfortable. I'm giving you everything I've got. But clearly I can't give you everything you want yet. she starts to think about it, and gets a bit frustrated I saved your life Pita, then I replaced your ship, a ship I loved now belongs to you. I know you needed your old ship for some things, but I needed the ship I gave you for some things too. I'm basically begging for you to trust me, and you give me nothing! Pita, you can't do this to me. I'm doing all I absolutely can to make you happy. I can't find James yet, but I said I would, so I will. Alright? Please, this is just so f--- she stops herself as she's getting really worked up, and doesn't want to hurt Pita more. Please sweetie, just show me a bit of trust, I won't let you get hurt again. Not if I can help it. she reaches her hand out to Pita, and waits. (// If she was to grab it, it'd result in a hug.)
Pita turned and looked at Nevaeh as she begins to sound frustrated. "All I want is to be a kid." She doesn't take her hand, instead shakes her head "I don't want to be a trader, or join the navy. I just want to be able to worry about boys and have friends and I want James because hes as close to a Dad as I've ever had." She was beginning to get frustrated herself.
"You didn't have to give me that ship.... In fact keep it. You didn't have to come and help me." She turned back to the window "It probably would have been better if you just didn't." With that Pita turned and began to walk back toward the door, without looking at her. "I'm sure I can find my way back to Kepler. Once I'm there, getting home will be easy."
As much as she did appreciate Nevaeh's help, the thought that no one knew where she was, was really beginning to bother her. She wanted to let someone know where she was, but she had no way of contacting them. Her only other option as far as she saw it was to leave. She looked across at Nevaeh with a slight nod "Thank you for the help. You did save me, and I appreciate that. But I want to go home now."
She stops Pita at the door, and lightly suggests for her to walk back inside. She does reluctantly, giving Nevaeh dirty looks as she does this. Pita, think about it, if you can't contact James, how could I? I've thought and thought of ways, do you want me, a labeled pirate to fly into liberty saying "Oh Jaaaaamesss!" or what? Pita, believe me, I want to help you. But it'll take time and until we can establish a secure connection with your father I can't let you just wander off. she walks away from Pita, to stare out the window into the nothingness. She knows the chances of her actually being able to help Pita seem slim, but she does have faith. She also knows Pita is beginning to dislike her entirely. This isn't what she wants, but she can't just run off like she says she might. Pita, there is nothing more that I want than for you just to enjoy yourself. We've both had tough life experiences, but without them we can't learn. You've been forced to grow up a lot already, and I get that's tough. But rather than being an adult like everyone has tried to make you, why not just use those experiences to make you stronger? Pita, you're a beautiful young girl whose entire life is ahead of her. You can still be a kid. she looks back at Pita, and gives a genuine, but sad smile. I know it must be scary... being here without any familiar faces. It's happened to me to some extent as well. she looks away, and heads over to the sofa. She lays down, resting her head on the arm rest. And about that ship, it's yours. If you don't trust me, you can leave with it. Please though, I feel you are my responsibility. I don't want you to get hurt. But, if you must, you can. I already gave you the ignition codes, and the docking bay codes. Yadayada, right? she starts to tear up, worried Pita would leave. She stops and looks at her for a moment and says But, If you leave, I will follow you. If we go farther into House Space I will be shot at. But I can't leave you alone. I'd rather we stayed here, but if you simply refuse we can seek him out. It's a pointless cause, as the Navy will kill us both once they realize I'm technically a pirate, and I'm sure they'd assume the same about you if you're with me. Pita, please, think about this. I don't want you to go, and I really don't want to get shot at over this.
After a long pause she tries to lighten the mood a bit, You know, I suppose if you really don't want the ship, I can just remotely change the ignition codes, and the docking and undocking codes only worked for that specific ship. You said you didn't want it, right? But I suppose if you really don't want that ship.. I could just give it to some other little girl who'd love to have it. she winks at Pita, knowing this might frustrate her, but still bringing up a valid point of how she'd be unable to leave without it. Honey, I know you're scared. I would be too. But sometimes, you need to put a bit of faith in people. Without hope, what do we have? Without a bit of trust, how can we make new friends? What if you never ever trusted James? What if he never trusted you? What if I thought that distress call was fake, maybe a trap? Pita, as I said, I understand your fear but there's still no reason for you to act so quick. Think about what you're going to do. If you want to leave, you need that ship. The ignition codes won't change, unless you're the one who changes them. But as I said, if you leave, I leave. she kneels down to Pita's height Pita, please believe me when I say I'm really doing all in my power to ensure you're happy and safe. You may not know us girls as much as you like, but you're free to roam the base. I'm sure everyone would want to meet the girl that saved my life. she smiles at her and says, I've been scared too. Maybe I saved your life quite literally, but you saved me mentally. I needed something, someone to anchor me. as she says this, she begins to shake subtlety yet still noticeable, she quickly shakes it off. Trust me when I say, you've helped me just as much as I've helped you. Pita, I need you. This may sound silly coming from a stupid grown up, but you give me faith. A purpose. she realizes how selfish that sounded, and tries to take it back, But I'm sure James needs you just as much. We'll find, and get you back to him. I promise. But you need to be patient. Believe me, If I could just wish this all away I would. and again, expecting to be denied, she offers her hand to Pita.
Pita just looked at her "What makes you so sure? I was a Rogue, and the Navy haven't shot me.", shaking her head. She denied Neveah's hand again. Sure, it was still early days, but nothing had happened toward the promises she was making. "You can tell me about how you will find him as much as you want." She was pacing the room. "You wont"
Trust me when I say, you've helped me just as much as I've helped you. Pita, I need you. This may sound silly coming from a stupid grown up, but you give me faith. A purpose.
When she said this, Pita stopped, looking blankly at Nevaeh. Shaking her head, not saying anything back to her. Pita wasn't going to get out of here while Nevaeh was using her as her purpose to live, and things were beginning to make sense in her mind. Pita remained silent and walked across, sitting on the end of the bed, playing with the guardian charm on her bracelet. She was thinking, and eventually nodded before climbing up the bed and lying down again.
Pita knew that there was no point in trying to leave tonight. The adrenaline was beginning to wear off, and she was starting to feel tired. "I will sleep here tonight, and tomorrow I want to talk to James." she said quietly, still playing with the charm. She was beginning to ache but refused to let Nevaeh know, instead she lay still and closed her eyes.
Nevaeh says nothing to Pita about the James comment, knowing simply it can't happen. But she absolutely intends to keep her promise. Whether or not Pita actually believes her is besides the point. Nevaeh walks over to Pita and lightly touches her shoulder to guide her to the bed. Nevaeh makes the bed again, and pulls the comforter down and such. And closes the shutters so the sun can no longer get in at all, the room still lightly lit with the ambient light above. She dims it very low, so that in case Pita has to get up at night, she can see her way. Sleep well, my dear. she says quietly, unsure if Pita heard. Nevaeh has grown to really love Pita, as she understands what it's like to not have a comfortable home. She understands what it's like to lose people who were once so close.
Pita passes out fairly fast, making sounds as she sleeps as before, but a lot less now. Just more sounds of discomfort. Nevaeh couldn't sleep. As the time passes she'd doze off for no longer than 30 minutes to end up staying up for an hour. Each time she'd check if Pita was okay, lightly putting her hand on Pita's forehead to check her rough temperature. She did this very silently, and carefully as to not wake Pita. If she did wake her, and Pita chose not to say anything Nevaeh couldn't tell. Nevaeh made sure Pita had everything she'd need if she woke up. Water, spare change of clothes she managed to get from the other girls around Ainu who had kids, or could get the clothes. They were just basic clothing, stuff that Nevaeh thought Pita would actually like.
Nevaeh still can't sleep. She's scared that she won't find James...
... or when she does something bad will happen. But at this point, she's willing to risk it. Still without a clue how to contact him, Pita is going to be furious likely, but Nevaeh hopes otherwise. All she wants to do is actually bond with her. A few hours pass of her choppy sleep, and she checks Pita again, she's still highly discomforted but sound asleep besides that. Maybe making a violent kick here and there, but that's something Nevaeh has grown to expect. Right before Nevaeh walks away, she sees the charm bracelet again. An idea pops into Nev's head, What if.. I got something for the bracelet! She clearly holds it really close to her.. Nevaeh sneaks out of the room. The door is silent as it opens, and closes. No lights were in the hallway, and the door cancels out most sounds from the hallways.
After Nevaeh got out of the room, she walked down to the tiny store within the base, and leaves a small note on the register, as no one is there at the time. Nevaeh is very close with the owners of the store, so she was comfortable with shopping when there was no way for her to pay immediately. She looks around for something that'd fit the bracelet.. anything that'd help her know how hard her and I have worked together to just make it through the night.. All Nevaeh wants is for Pita to love her. But, just Pita liking Nevaeh would be a fantastic start. She surprisingly enough finds an adjustable charm for a charm bracelet shaped as the Golden Chrysanthemum's symbol. She picked the best one they had, and added it to the note. It's gold and silver plated. Something Nevaeh didn't expect at all to find here. But it's certainly genuine.
The second she was about to leave, the owners step into the store about to actually open, and Nevaeh almost panicked. Oh my gosh! It's not what it looks like! she gets shaky, but realizes that all is good when they give her a hug and explain how they know what and who it's for. Nevaeh hands over a 10,000SC credit card to fully pay for the single charm. This was actually a lot of her money. The charm was simply beautiful, and even if Pita didn't understand the symbol, the flower was still very attractive looking. Nevaeh asks the two girls if she could have a nice box the they could wrap for her with the charm inside. They offer to give their nicest style of box, that doesn't need wrapping paper free of charge. Nevaeh is ecstatic and hugs the two of them. She heads back to her room at this point, silently opening the door again.
She puts the beautiful box next to Pita's bed on the nightstand. So that when Pita is awake, she'd notice it the second she turned the light on, or even glanced on the obvious table. At this point, Nevaeh is exhausted. Used up most of the night shopping for Pita, was easily able to sleep. About three hours pass, and the automatic room lights begin to engage to simulate sunlight. This wakes Nevaeh up slowly but surely. Nevaeh had about two hours of continuous sleep. But maybe four in total.
After Nevaeh woke up, she checked her comms to find THIS message. It's likely Pita heard Nevaeh talking. After this happens, she goes over to Pita and makes sure she's awake, Pita! Pita! I got to tell you something! Wake up! she touches her shoulder lightly to make sure she's awake. Cmon baby, wake up. I've got a present, and a surprise for you.
//Turns out this RP fell through. Ignore it, as it's no longer entirely valid. But I'm choosing to leave the most of it here. Please consider anything relating "surprise" and the comm deal null void. Also, not as urgent as a wake up. Too lazy to fix it, as you're too lazy to post a new one. ---- Leaving for bootcamp soon. We'll continue this later when you're feeling better Sarah. I know you're busy, and it's okay to delay replies. ^_^
