I know I'm only a newbie to disco, and I'm aware that in terms of RP, we left our solar system behind to reach Sirius, but hear me out.
After reading an article about a possible Planet X in our solar system, I wondered why we couldn't have it in disco as well? (The solar system I mean).
Now, I have no clue on how much work that would be to the designers, so I won't be surprised if some of you laugh at me for suggesting this.
But just picture it though. An almost exact copy of our solar system in disco. In terms of RP this would be a bit weird, but you can just classify it as an edge system where all the planets are uninhabitable. Or, if you want to add a mysterious RP story to it, then say some explorers found a jumphole to an unknown system, and because we lost our records on our home system, we have no idea that this new system was our home.
Anyway, that's it, was just a sudden idea so I haven't thought it through entirely, so you are free to mentally slap me for it.
EDIT: I almost forgot about a different extended opening to freelancer that somebody did, so is that bit of story in disco or is it not related? Because most of the planets were destroyed in that extended opening wasn't it?

However, the Crossfire mod has a recreation of the Sol system.
Ah well, forget it then
Or you could still do it I guess, just with Pluto existing on the far edge and everything else is just asteroids from the planets.

Hmm... that'd be interesting, but Conn doesn't have much in the way of solars in order to avoid potential render lag, particularly for players with weaker PCs.

Ah, very true. Bastille is another idea I guess.
I'm not going to put that much effort into a system only seen by Admins and rule breakers, lol.
Nah.
Replace bastille's starscape with written red letters saying "YOU WERE BAD

Wow, I'd love that idea.

This Galaxy is vast; its wonders and beauty are almost unfathomable. But the galaxy also hides dark secrets, some of which have lain dormant since the beginning of time itself. There is a danger in secrets, both in seeking and in knowing. Some things are meant to be hidden from view. Some mysteries defy understanding, and sometimes even the things we think we know are untrue. Some secrets should remain untouched.
