It became okay when the rule against intentional ramming was removed.

Let me guess, you are the guy who complains about people escaping from battle and people using cloaks. BUT. When it is beneficial to you, you use "embrace as mechanic" argument.
Do I ruleshark people for using cloaks? No. It's just a mechanic that i'm not fond of and haven't been since I've started playing here. I'm just complaining because that's what I do, I can call you a coward for that and avoid encounters with you because I don't like you but that doesn't get you sanctioned.
Also it's not beneficial to me in any way, shape or form because it wasn't me who got sanctioned. He was flying as a member of my faction though so this is why I stand here and discuss this matter. And also because I like arguing with people.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but some people actually roleplay characters that avoid fights they cannot win. Take that as admitance of their inferiority and be proud, instead of going ooRP in private or local thus breaking rules.

It shouldn't be 'ok' if you ask me... I wasn't aware of that bug until fighting junkers in T-23. And yes, it got me killed.
It's an old game filled with bugs and exploits, why is it so hard for players not to take advantage of those and just play the game?
Ah, it's about capital ships. I tried to test this escape thing while bumping a Marduk with a Cupholder in Conn (mutual consent) but never got it to work, disregarded it as an option and assumed this was actually for snubs or something.
Yeah, ramming caps to do that escape crap is kinda dumb.

Because half the time you don't know it's a bug or an exploit till someone files a report about you? I, for example, have no Idea what half of you are talking about, including firing torpedoes in a special way and how/why this cap ramming thing even works...if my fighter guns only have a range of like 600m, how can I get close enough to shoot the target without risking ramming it? Will someone decide to report me for accidentally crashing into their ship while trying to bring my guns to bear? Who can tell if it was intentional or not? Who can tell if it wasn't an NPC doing the ramming...
Well that's the thing, if you just play the game you won't realize half these things and you won't be in trouble. You'll have to do a bit of an effort to hit a bs right to flip it, and in general you have to a bit of an effort to find and utilize the bugs. And that is what people do because "as long as it is not written directly in the rules, it's not wrong".
