They can engage hostiles outside of ZOI when they are in snubs, agreed, but that doesn't change the fact that ZOI is hardcoded as "Liberty, systems directly bordering Liberty", all in all making LSF in Alpha a far more "exotic" event than Outcasts in Liberty - especially considering that they didn't use the Taus to get there, but traversed a far bit of hostile space.

The fact is, LSF aren't a particularly rare sight due to Cardamine trafficking in Liberty... On top of this, I don't see why we should have any tolerance of intruders whether you're LSF or anyone else. Invading Maltese space is a direct breach of Maltese law and won't be tolerated. Our diplomacy even lists intruders as hostile. You'd have to have a very good excuse for being there, for us not to open fire.
But they aren't some petty LNS looking to invade Malta, maybe we were holding valuable intel?
And there lies the problem. To the daily outcast, you are just another kind of bounty hunter trespassing their space, and the role of Outcasts is to make sure they die. And that is exactly what they were doing. Playing the role of an outcast.
If only the encounter was in some place like Tau 23, or neutral grounds, interaction might have extended for a bit long.

LSF can engage within the Omicrons due to their knowledge of the nomads and probably some other reasons that I don't know about. They're an intelligence service, just like CR's 17th squadron which contacted the Order in the deep Omicrons; the KPT, BDM etc etc. Plus, CL} members opened fire on them and self defense isn't against the rules.

But were you really? I'm sure it wasn't just a simple "engage all enemy" one-liner before firing, i'll check with the guys involved. On an ooRP level, yes we know the LSF aren't lolwuts looking to bat some flies but inRP, the LSF are as much of a cancer to the Outcasts interests as any other Libertonian or even lawful party. That's why you were fired at more or less upon sight. Don't tell me you wouldn't have done the same if you'd found us in Liberty.
The Contari Lance, as Moriarty has vaguely put it, are very conventional Outcasts. A mafia/militia so-to-speak. Plunder, trafficking etc. perhaps in a more classy manner than Libertonian criminals but with a large fleet behind them. You invaded our home space and you're expecting a warmer welcome?! If you want more than a boot up the rear, talk to the 101st or the Crimson Cross.
