Yes, I know they are not police force, but I can't understand why they can't hunt criminals? It contradicts the lore, their reputation and their infocard (Hostile: Criminals).
Bounty Hunter ID doesn't go far from the Freelancer ID (which is more flexible, but cannot offer piloting other than Civilian vessels + items at full capability). So, the question arises here: we need some changes on BHG ID, OR removing the nerf on the house weaponry (Bounty Hunter Guild was born in Liberty, why they can't use Liberty weaponry at full capability, what would be more logical for them? They have also contact with house polices and militaries - minus Gallia).
And the second question, barely connected with that. My ID (BHG) says that I can defend any allied or neutral vessel. By roleplay, NPC vessels are still regarded as faction vessels (in other words, they are like players), how it looks with the actual ID ruleset, however?
Well if you run BHG ID you can go after anyone who's blanket bountied, I believe that ID negates the need to register beforehand, and it is claimable as long as the situation of who'm you're claiming it to is not oorp. Many groups do place blanket bounties on 'generic unlawfuls' like pirates (back in the day i think slavers and smuggler ID's were included). So as a BHG you can just check all of the lawful/quasi lawful blanket bounty contracts and be covered. I'd get familiar with what you can do for who before you do so though. And even though you don't have to register as BHG, it probably wouldn't hurt to drop a blip about how you plan to hunt for x faction's blanket bounty, same as any FL would.
And yeah afaik, as BHG and you see someone killing NPC"s of an allied or neutral factions, I believe you could use that to base an engagement, with sufficient on the spot RP of course.
As with any bounty board you need to register even if your using a BHG id. Some groups have registered so if your flying under their flag and they have registered then you don't need to. Ofter that you can shoot up any one that on that list but you could also get some one to hire you on the spot.
Quote:7. All bounties must specify the persons hired to take the bounty before they can start collecting on it. Players using the Bounty Hunter ID may freely claim on lawful bounty boards without the need for registration, unless the board specifically states otherwise.
If you need to register its probably up to the faction, on that I'm not sure who requires it or not. I suppose this means you would indeed have to register on any quasi boards, like Junkers for example. If there are no lawful bounty boards left that don't require registration, I don't blame anyone for not using the BHG ID, otherwise you can just be Freelancer and be able to defend/escort as well as bounty hunt.
Ok so let clear it up.
part 1 BHG id - first part you can hunt down any Pirate, smuggler or unlawful person (but you have to have been hire by some one Mainly Bounty Broad or being Contacted by a Groups) you can still join up with any lawful person and come to term and shoot unlawful people. Most if some one pays you or are shooting at you try you best ti kill them.
Part 2 NPc - there are time and place's when you want to treat them like other player. E.g if they flying around a play and are bugging him well he is rping with out is one of the time you should overlook them. If you see a play hunting down your friendly npc and you rp that they are play then that works

Not to mention that a freelancer is supposedly neutral to everyone, so can hang around pirates without getting killed...assuming they haven't made a name for themselves, whereas anyone using a BHG ID is pretty much kill on sight for every pirate faction in Sirius...
Ye BHG ID sucks. You need to register or get paid. You'd have an easier time shooting badguys on a corporate ID. I made a thread about it a while back.

Yeah, if people would just look at the Bounty Registration and finally accept people, that would be great. I'm waiting for a week now. :| In fact they should have a line:
