If you want to get some good screenshots from different angles, you can try hosting your own server (the disco install has everything for you to do so) and disable multiboxing in the ini files so that you can connect to your own server with multiple clients from the same IP.

This idea actually makes a lot of sense, but it's wholly incompatible with the existing rules. The answer is to hire somebody, but if it's a camera ship then, in the event of legitimate combat, it is a valid target throughout the encounter. Unless it has a Neutral ID, of course. The way I consider the camera ship is it being neutral, but if this idea were to work then such 'drones' would have to keep to ID rules. In other words, it would no longer be neutral. Since the rules do not allow this craft to be used as a RP tool, it's not exactly legit, but we are talking about a ship-class which could possibly deserve more attention. Anyway, a freighter would be more ideal for the job because it can at least defend itself. I have to say that what I don't like about the idea is this: I for one don't wish to see an [OORP]-Camera.Ship potentially relaying information to a character's arch rival. Any typical pirate would attack a surveillance drone even if it has no guns - I would.
All this said, I'm talking about having somebody else actually flying the camera. The concept of multi-boxing a drone...well, I'm not even going to say what I think of that. So yeah, RP a video drone all you like but if you want to use the camera ship then it might need a Special Ops ID. Either way, you'll need real humans to fly each ship.

I think he's talking about a drone following him around. He could do what he likes with his own server, but if you're talking about running (what looks like) a proxy to connect to the main server - I imagine that'll get whacked very quickly.
Well... the legality of flying a camera ship on its own isn't the question here.
In short:
Camera ships don't exist inRP
They can't speak, they can't help, they cannot be engaged.
Information recorded with one can only be used for cinematography. Otherwise would be metagaming.
The greens have already answered this.
Thankyou everybody.

Why complicate so much? Just put a recruit id on the ship and be done with it. characters cant use information gathered by such ship, since it's a oorp ship in many ways.
Maybe I over-complicated it. What I meant to say is if a camera ship is effectively under the employ of another craft then it must adhere to its ID restrictions. Camera ships are generally used to the purpose of entertainment, but what I'm seeing here is a craft undertaking real-time surveillance. If it's in formation with another craft which has a faction or generic ID then I feel that other players ought be able to acknowledge the existence of this thing on the screen which is doing some 'stuff'. Basically, if I'm a pirate and a goon pulls up with some blinking gryo-copter, I'm probably gonna shoot it. Something like that anyway...
I honestly think that there has to be restrictions here. What you do with a in-RP drone is up to you as long as it's within the rules. But not with the camera ship. I just don't feel it fair that there is what can easily, in-RP, be regarded a hostile craft. So I destroy its leader and now there's this drone looking at me as though it's a duck in a pond. If it starts squawking then I might get nervous. Basically, if I get in trouble for shooting down somebody's recon drone then, well....dunno really...
