I'm not much of a fan of creating ships exclusively because "I want an asthetic and an impossible to hit... box".
I'd rather see adjustments done to the Serpent to give its size an advantage in power, hull, regens, and possibly wep mounts over its smaller counterparts.
So what you mean is why dont we make all light fighters trash? because thats exactly what the bigger light fighters are.
the light fighters you name are the only ones that are actually not complete garbage. and why arent they garbage? because they dont allow the golden privileged child called VHF get a free blue.

No, what I mean is that I believe "miniscule hitboxes for ships that can move and strafe around incredibly quickly" are simply bad game design. The bigger LFs are garbage, that's for sure, but I'd much rather rebalance a set of larger LFs to have some usefulness, than attempt to make a ship as tiny as a Liberator both useful and fun to fight at the same time.
fun to fight from a very heavy fighter players perspective though. im pretty sure battleships dont find bombers very fun to fight against, or more that i dont think any ship class finds a mob of VHF craft very fun to fight.
you can only balance the larger light fighters into the Heavy fighter class, because unless you give them crazy stats the larger light fighters will always be garbage.
fighting light fighters in light fighters probably one of the most fun things on the server, everything is happening so fast.
its bad game design from your perspective because you dont use them at all. or well, maybe that one time you logged your police libby.
light fighter is a support class, it trades damage for survivabilty if you are careful, and instant death if you arent.
they were already made into glass cannons and it was totally stupid and unnecessary so they were put back, the libby, hussar and wyrm are the ideal light fighter profile / speed / agility, and they perform harrassment and interdiction as their primary functions in combat.
they are annoying to heavier craft because they are supposed to be annoying. in larger brawls what they excell at doing is poking VHF's and getting them to peel off of their current target with the potential of an easy blue, and it works every time you can literally see the rage in peoples ship when they switch out to target you instead of whatever it was they were shooting at.
and unless a target has the intention of soley escaping from a fight without turning back its pretty difficult to get a lot of damage in during a fight, BUT THATS OKAY and not a complaint. and hell if somebody is soley running id much rather have a 2.0 VHF like a templar so i can knock the runner down quickly.

Right. So LFs are completely fine, and Liberator is completely balanced when you have 5 people shooting at it - Omicega, Charos, Me, Durandle and Bloogal - none of which you can say is a newbie pvper and can't even do a hit on it.
Maybe we should take anther instance - Libby piloted by Sava. Me, Charos, Bloogal, Durandle and Chillermiller (again, out of all which i am most likely the worst pvper) and Sava actually manages to even kill Bloogal - because we can't hit it.
The current situation is ridiculous, you have a VERY overpowered ship for the simple reason that any careful play with it will easily result in it surviving.
Don't go head to head with someone and keep strafing and you are on the good side of things.
No, I am not saying you should make all LFs huge trashy garbage but the smaller ones need some urgent rebalancing. Liberator doesn't preform only harassment, harassment you get from a 3 guns LF like Hayabusa, Liberator is doing actual painful damage.
