Andy,
Thanks again for the assist with working with you folks! I regret that it didn't work out, but it may have been for the best.
While I was in Rico, I met the captain of the ShadowJunker. He's rather what they used to call a character when I was in the military, but leaving aside his personality, seems trustworthy as long as our interests intersect.
Speaking of which, he led me to a base ruin in Kansas. He was a bit grudging about it, but gave me the opinion that it was potentially salvageable. My interest in the base is to have a research facility that is not in the inhabited territory of the Houses, but is close enough to take advantage of the resources they provide.
I am interested in a paid second opinion on the viability of the project. ShadowJunker's master collected 10M for his time and opinion, and I am willing to pay another expert similarly, but I don't want to waste their time, or mine, if you have reason to believe that the Congress would not be... happy with this project.
Would you be willing to inquire for me, or set me on the right path to do it myself, as to whether this is something that the Congress would endorse? I can say up front that I would be looking for haulers and skilled work force to restore the facility if I can get all the local parties to sign off on it.

I've reviewed what you sent me and have seen the wreck site in passing as well. Your ambitious proposal intrigues me. I believe reviving such a station would benefit many interests, including those of Congress. So I do not foresee any objections that we ourselves would raise. As you are currently Freelancing, I am assuming this project would also fall under that category. Is this correct?
This would not be an easy endeavor by any means, and I admire your willingness to take on large challenges. I would imagine Liberty Navy will have an interest in what goes on since they had a hand in it's destruction in the first place. Then there are the unlawfuls that pass through the area from time to time. A required work camp and supply depot for the revitalization work would be highly vulnerable to either side of the law. Then there is financing the project in the long term.
We do have ships in the area that could assist in your logistic needs and I could see us working out a deal. But first I would suggest determining how to either procure non-aggression terms by the various parties with an interest in the Kansas area, or arrangements for sufficient security to protect the site. Then how the project would be financed.
I did some digging on what I could find in the archives, and I think it should prove useful:
Survey Report: As of 818 AS, the station can still be classified as a wreck. Some parts of the main section were successfully repressurized, and Junction's MOX-fueled backup generators can presumably still function. However, the severe damage the station took when it was originally abandoned was never competently repaired; the primary fusion generator still has a gaping hole in it, and there are no functional docking bays or mooring points. A repair job would be possible in theory, but would require substantial amounts of time and effort.
Please keep me informed of your progress, Chuck. It would be a crowning achievement to strive for. When you have a solid plan I am sure we can work something out.
Safe Skies,
AndyH

Andy,
I just got caught up on the news this morning, having been out of circulation for the last two weeks. I hope that you folks are doing ok.
You had earlier mentioned possible Junker assistance in my project, and I am calling to inquire whether you need me to wait until your folks are not suffering under the ancient curse of "interesting times". Given that I am trying to maintain good will of the local potentates, I wouldn't want to put you folks under additional stress if you consider it problematic.
Thanks for your ongoing support, and I hope to hear from you soon.
