For those of you who hadn't played the Descent series, it was a teeth grinding, heart pounding, suspense filled close quarters spaceship shooter where you never knew what was lurking behind the next corner and levels were so vast and complex it was easy to get lost in them. This is the first attempt at a Descent game since the 90s and the devs really do seem to know what's up, so if you want to see this happen I would definitely throw some money at it! They've already got some really solid assets and gameplay being showcased, and I think that it could really take off if everyone can pitch in.
I had heard of the name, but never knew what kind of game it was.
From what I've seen from the promotional video, it looks like a Roberts Space Industries (Star Citizen) side project. No, a split up from the Star Citizen Team?
Either way, it explains the solid assets and quality presentation.
Always interesting to get more space sim games, specially with tested unique concepts.
Decided not to pitch in on that one. As much as I like Descent and occasionally replay all three and expansions. Originally there was a lot of talk about aspects of the game that had nothing to do with Descent series at all with not-mentioned-openly-but-implied micro transactions and other things I'm weary of. Sure they changed talk since then, even distancing from their previous statements and retroactively changing subjects, I guess they did after some public pressure, but it sets the precedent I don't like and reveals original intent which I expect will resurface one way or another. I have a plenty fond and refreshed memories of Descent and this doesn't match it. Living up to D2 frantic combat and its soundtrack is a tall order to fill. Color me very skeptical.

I think a lot of the modern day devteam chest thumping involved here about "oh hurr durr we microtransactions and tech trees and blah blah" because the overwhelming majority of people actually expect that in a modern day game. I don't think this is what they wanted from the start at all and they seem to have changed their tune and been listening to their fans a lot since they spoke up about wanting a more original Descent experience.
Besides, I'd rather see a game made from a series I love that may or may not live up to the standards of its predecessor rather than no game at all.

It.. really really isn't. Again, another example of "Oh we worked on Star Citizen so we should say that so people will take us seriously", because the unreleased, feature creep filled, money thieving RSI who keep pushing back their release dates and are unable to keep their promises is somehow the game that all space sims (no matter how far from being related) are weighted against. It's just a way of getting joe average to take them seriously and I wouldn't be surprised if these guys no longer work for SC. Either way, it's not an 'RSI side project', its some original Descent developers making a new game in a series that's close to their heart.
