Nowadays, I think the Animal Crossing: A New Leaf is the closest thing to tamagotchi, because you can visit someone else's villages through internet. Same goes for crapload of casual titles, such as Dragon Village/Town/Cave/whatever.
But in the 90s and 00s, there was a boom for small toys called tamagotchi - in short, a small electronic pet that you had to feed, get to sleep and play with it. The later Digimon were created out of that toy, if I'm not wrong... I bet some of you owned Tamagotchi at least once in their life - as for me, I only had the fake ones, not issued by Bandai/Namco. I'd love to get one in the future, just because I'm quite interested how the original ones look right now. Also, if I remember right, only the original tamagotchi have ability to "visit" other tamagotchi, if next to each other.
Out of pure curiosity,, I googled "tamagotchi" few months ago. I'd been surprised a lot, because all I remember was this:
These guys just evolved and slowly turn into the RPG games. How awesome is that?
I had a yellow Pikachu tamagotchi for a few bucks (recalculating into dollars) and it lasted for a long long years, despite it not having Pikachu on the screen, just a sort of bird. Oh anyway. Who else had Tamagotchi or had any pleasant or unpleasant memories connected to them?
Things they make nowadays and call tamagochi are nothing like the real deal used to be
I remember I once thought I lost it, I was about 11 , and most of my friends had one. I kept looking for it, basically turned my room into a hurricane disaster zone, then I realized I put it into the cupboard so it can sleep xD
It lasted for almost a year, and I also got a little sensitive when it ran out of battery :/
