Many corporations currently fulfil the roles of merchant navies. From my own point of expertise, Bowex is the sole supplier of the Bretonian Armed Forces, and consequently is responsible for running supplies like this to the front lines. I'm sure other corporate groups have similar government contracts elsewhere.
From an actual activity point of view - how many events do you know of that have had the potential to synergise with almost every playable character archetype? That's an amazing potential there.
Either way, a nice touch would be to have delivered commodities deduct points from the opposing side. So, for every 2,000 units of marines delivered, the enemy side would lose 1 point. It adds an additional element of depth to the events, and makes hitting transports equally as important as killing enemy combatants.

That's a cool idea.
I agree that the trade-corps do supply the military forces but they should not be skilled to participate in a military operation.
Just did a run in my serenity (obviously BAF| ID'ed and all), Suffolk to San Diego, no bonus. Just checking if there's anything I'm doing wrong? Or if it's bugged? Thought someone should know about this either way.
This is pretty neat! Although my only worry is that California might start to pool activity almost too much and other regions will have a massive drop for however long this event goes on for. Otherwise though, this is super and a big step in the right direction.
