If that's not an official faction right abuse then I don't know what is. How about IC or ALG do that and go 'u can't pirate official event'. Like seriously, are those the official faction standards we're trying to set here?
How I see it this is mainly to exclude another certain circle of friends who has been joining only to ruin their gaming experience everytime 343 logged in the past several months. I wonder why you are this pissed about them trying to stop this.
I remember such things as well when we was doing a RP with 343 as CR and we needed to postpone it. I dont see a problem to restricting event to officials if thats the case.
This is entirely expected as a bunch of indies, whether its GRN indies, KNF indies or any other indie that's hostile against the 343, always log to just erase them from the game.
You guys shouldn't be mad from Char's decision. But understand from where it's coming from.

You can always discuss with Char if you wish to include yourself into any of the official events.
KNF will still wipe you out, be it official or not. Long live the Republic!
Jokes aside, instead of making this thread and letting everyone know of your intentions, you should have do an event, apply the restrictions and see how it went; then ask for community input. The way you did it, begs for flak from the "certain circle" you're trying to avoid and does more harm than good.
Anyway, I hope that these series of events will last till late summer so I can have a chance to participate. Good luck!
Okay... So let me get this right, next time I stumble upon {343} on my indie in Kusari I am supposed to do what? Run away? And can THEY shoot me if I am not allowed to shoot them first? Because my last encounter with them was a 3v1 versus me which they initiated.
3v1 is usally not something we do, and if it happened like that one of the fighters was either a light fighter or joined in later when the commander realized that they were about to lose a ship or were otherwise outmatched.
But to answer your question: If you're on your indie and stumble over us, you will be kindly told that this is an official event and no, we will not engage you. Of course, as mentioned above by Traxit, I don't see any reason to exclude every indie by default that doesn't have harmful intentions (against the players that is, obviously).
Let me get something straight here. This is not a measure to avoid PvP. This is a measure to make it impossible for a certain group of players to continue their actively harassing behaviour.
So... just to make it clear, it will be official faction event each time {343} ship logs online or only when you're planning something really important and don't want others to ruin it?
