yay and Karst will become an admin soon aswell then, as people that have been banned previously are becoming admins, looking forward to good mining upgrades karst......karst......where are you.... why is he not here?
Admins never listen to the community.
Admins are always picking on people who disagree with them.
If you swear admins will hate you.
Do not say anything remotely negative in Skype you will get banned.
Admins do not know what will make a good mod. (Actually nobody does until tried out)
Admins only make their friends mods.
Admins only choose people like them.
Admins hold grudges.
Only faction mates are made mods.
You have to be a Skype friend to be made a mod.
Admins never give you a chance if you change.
It takes too long with constant interviews to get to be staff and even then not people the community know.
If that what it looks like to the community what would a decision contrary to any of those sentiments look like?
Well despite all the typical rioting I'm going to go ahead and cast my two cents in here.
No, these aren't the people I'd have picked. I'd probably have gone for @Yber and @Flash if I had to pick any two people. These decisions are based on the fact that those two are fairly thick skinned and I think that is something the staff needs more of.
However, these are not the kind of people the staff tends to recruit either. Despite the constant accusations of bias and skype friends, from my experience the administration usually goes for very neutral, non combatant people who have little to no opinion on anything of relevance. These two picks are very opinionated and definitely break that mold, whether you like them or not.
I think its an interesting decision and I'm going to be keeping a close eye on it to see how it goes.

@Tunicle , for what it's worth, I think both of these are good picks based on the personal qualities of both spazzy and Thyrzul. My shock is at the fact that the administration team would publicly announce that Thyrzul was nearly permanently banned outside normal process, and then a month later give him a position of responsibility in the community that unambiguously says "this is a good community member, trust them, listen to them, they are a role model and deserve your respect". After all that's happened, I can't help but feel that these picks are disingenuous, and were made more so to reach out to the community in a silly "hey fellow kids!" manner than because the administration actually thought they were best for the job.
The key is "nearly permanently banned" he was not banned he ended up on a list, many lists come and go. The lists are for discussion and voting upon does not mean guilty.
What if he made the list for something but then found innocent? Or on the list then not banned because discussion cleared things up.
"I can't help but feel" and there is nothing we can do about that and will always happen within a community. Every decision will have haters and lovers and people who are not bothered. People look for any angle and motive that fits their world view, that is straight forward Psychology 101 and true the world over.
