Bad idea, don't do it. As koske said, the idea doesn't fit the story. It still triggers me so hard when players name their ships after Cities from Balkan. Forget about the Ex-Yu idea, that's my advice.

Yugoslavia as a country doesn't exist any more, yes, but it's still a very hot political subject, same as the USSR. You could, however, make a Coalition fleet whose pilots and captains are the descendants of the Yugoslavians who were part of the Coalition infiltration unit (those countries were probably part of the Coalition) that incapacitated the sleeper ship Hispania when it reached Sirius, and then left for Omega-52, which is now the Coalition's stronghold. Interestingly enough, the Corsairs and the Outcasts still think it was one of them who blew up their sleeper ship, which is the origin of their war.
Also, the Coalition are communists, so I guess you'll have a use of all those Partisan movies when RP-ing them.
Myself being from Serbia, I've been avoiding to RP a Yugoslavian so far, but I might actually give it a try with your group, if you make it. There's so many things to satire!
There ware some talks about idea about faction like that , and just like you say , it may be former coalition from ex - you going independent , but this now is just asking will Ex-Yu behind name and as part of name be ok with server rules , nothing to do with any RP changes .
For example , ship named LNS-Texas|Ex-Yu will still act as normal LNS ship , commanded by any Tom Smith named Captain descendant from USA ,nothing will be different , except that newbies know they can PM contact me in my language and ask for tutorial help , because we dont have so advanced system of tutorials , especialy for others than English language .
Ship name must be in role play. For that purpose we have server Angels, Moderators and Admins. All communication in game should be role play. You cannot be what you want to. You need to play your character by your faction ID. If language is problem, they can't play this game since it is a role play server. One day they will be forced to talk and understand English.
That name is in role play we just wanted to bring more Balkans people to our group, we whoud like admin to answer our question, that can we use this Tag for our ships or not that is all.
2.3 Names of new characters should be set up with role-playing nature of our server in mind. This means that:
- Names should contain no swear words.
- Country of player origin must not be used in character names.
- Faction tags can only be used by the actual members of player factions or groups.
- Names with excessive use of random symbols, capital letters, numbers, symbols, leet speak, emoticons should not be used.
- Names should be in good taste and not reference real-life atrocities
If you wish to create a character well-suited for role-playing on our server, you are recommended to follow these simple guidelines:
* Names should be pronounceable;
* No using numbers or symbols to replace letters;
* No use of emoticons/smileys in character names;
* No completely numeric names;
* No overuse of capital letters. (Use proper grammar, stop with the upper case letter every second character);
* Do not use gamer/leet terms in character names;
* Symbol use within a name should be kept to as minimum as possible (faction tags are usually enough).
Those guidelines should not be considered rules obligatory for everyone in all situations. If you need to overstep those bounds for certain role-playing reason, you are allowed to do so until the name (and its origins) make sense.
