"Deep within the unknown, unexplored parts of space it lies, silent but alive, quiet but beckoning, a massive monument to the power of a long forgotten race. The Shrine, as it has come to be called by those humans who occupy it, serves as a library of knowledge containing the entire history of Sirius ready for the reaping. Built long before humans ever crawled from the oceans of Earth, the Shrine serves as one of the last testaments to the massive expanse of an alien empire."
"The Shrine calls out to those who open their minds, hearts, and ears to it's song. It emits the siren's call, beckoning those around Sirius to find it, to discover it's secrets. It has been this way for millenia, since long before humans arrived in this corner of space. The Shrine has seen the rise and fall of countless empires, both within Sirius and beyond, only it's caretakers, the ones it was truly left behind for, those who are directly linked to it in such a primordial way as to be inseperable, will remain after these empires are gone."
"The most recent visitors to The Shrine, a small cult of semi-religious humans calling themselves the 'Oracles', invite travellers and seekers from across the breadth and width of Sirius to hear it's tales. Within the Shrine, all minds are transformed, enlightened by the power emitted by the structure. Knowledge and ability are gained just by walking among it's halls and listening to the hum and vibration within it's walls. It advances and evolves those within, urging them to become better than they once were."
"The Oracles have taken it upon themselves to enlighten the rest of mankind. For aeons, humans have waged countless wars against one another for nothing more than greed and thirst for power, these basic aggressive and violent instincts of the species have both been it's strength as well as it's downfall. As adaptive and survivable as humans are, they also live in a state of constant strife; The Oracles see this, and wish to change humanity for the better. Their goal is to create a galaxy where only peace exists, and all the inhabitants of space coexist in a manner beneficial to all."
"Beyond the barrier in space unseen, past the stars of blue and green, within the cloud that hides the light, trust not your sensors, only your sight."
""Beyond the stars where wars are waged, among forgotten soldiers graves, lies the path away from hate, the way home through an ancient gate. Past this gate you will find your current life left behind, come and join those who live in peace and suffer not your human grief."
"Away from beauty you must drift, to blacker spaces along the rift, past three suns and past two more, you will find what you look for. As space bends and corners fold, you find the ice that claims in with cold, a single source of life and heat, a gate that leads you past the breach."
"Towards the core you must descend, there the edge of space extends, distance is nothing more than perspective, if the compass spins you head the right direction. Do not trust human logic, only faith and purpose will find the object."
In the small 'humanized' portion of the Shrine, one room has been transformed from hollow to lounge, a place where the Oracles gather to exchange what the structure has revealed to them. One wall of this cavern is adorned with a large tablet of unknown metal, and within this tablet are engraved the names of every individual to have discovered the Shrine since it's construction. Thousands of names span from the top of the list downward, most written in alien languages never encountered before by human eyes.
The metal tablet seems to grow ever so slightly whenever a new name is added, expanding along the curvature of the wall it rests upon. Every new inhabitant to the Shrine has merely to touch the surface of the list, and upon contact his or her name engraves itself into the list as if the steel itself retracts to form the letters.
At the bottom of the tablet, several human names are inscribed...

The list expands with every newcomer to the Shrine...
"We grow, we prosper, but it is not through violence nor manipulation with which we gain new followers... but curiosity and intrigue. Within every human lies an empty space, a void that always seems to remain empty regardless of the luxuries or power thrown into it."
"We force an idea, a glimmer of light into this void... a wedge into the gap, as it were; we open it and expand it until it consumes it's owner. This void of curiosity and need for knowledge overtakes it's host until the urge to find answers is too strong to resist. This is the lock, and the Shrine is the key... once our song is heard, the seekers will explore the breadth and width of space until they find it and learn it's secrets."
"All who join our cause join willingly, out of the irrepressible need for knowledge and peace. We sate that need, and give sanctuary to any who require it. Our purpose is one of coexistence and harmony with the natural order of things, a state which has been thrown into discord by the actions of humans upon Sirius. The galaxy itself screams out in pain and we are the ones who must cure it, by removing the cancer of greed, violence, and hatred that our own kind has brought to this lonely sector of space."
"Join us, follow the siren's song, the echo which emanates from the Shrine; seek out it's secrets, and become one with the endless expanse of the universe..."
