AI won the initial fight, being able to board the station and steal the artifact before being repelled by incoming reinforcements
Once again, the spotlight falls on the orbit of planet Knossos - home of mysteries and artifacts of old so plentiful, that years-long excavation hasn't even reached an understanding of how much remains to dig.
Usually peaceful with huge corsairs' military presence in the area, last finding brings an ominous sign of an active artifact, and history knows that appearance of these never bode anything remotely well.
At the first glance everything went smoothly: the artifact has been locked up in a way that nothing less than a nuke could interfere with it, and xeno relics trade went by as usual.
But the idillic sight will soon be interrupted: the artifact's emanations, prior to it's proper containment reached an AI drone passing by the Xi system, for unknown reasons attracting its sensors.
Soon enough a small AI fleet popped out of nowhere, imposing a lightning blockade and disabling Reincarnation's defences with a virus, switching off its defences, with a clear intention to board it.
While the virus is being flushed and systems reboot - a small garrison, stationed at the outpost - is all available protection it has. Defenders will have to hold the main AI wave until reinforcements arrive, simultaneously fending off anyone who might want to exploit the situation to their own benefit.
All the sudden activity stirred ever-present nomads, quickly flooding the outskirts with their distinctive scouts.
General rules of no-cloak, no-rearm and no-leave applies.
