The Battle of Magellan
MAGELLAN - In a stark contrast to expected projections, forces of Flight Epsilon and Flight Gamma have completely routed an expected Naval blockade set to prevent retreating forces from escaping into the Barrier. The two Flights, expected to be the last ones out of Vespucci, were subjected to considerable gunfire from elements comprising the Naval defense at Cordova. Despite this, Insurgent forces broke through the Naval blockade, and proceeded into the Barrier unopposed.
This message sent back to Veracruz from the ships in the field is the final official combat report from the Admiralty Board, as lines around Veracruz are expected to collapse without the muscle of heavy assets that took part in the Battle. Triton CO Captain Oscar Lakewood has assumed leadership of the Veracruz garrison, and expects the final Naval push within several days' time.
This will be IBI's final broadcast. We hope that these reports have been some consolation, and take pride in knowing that, even though we fall, the fight lives on.
