A failure to stay official is 100% on the faction leadership.
If you can't or won't spend the effort to get something going, you deserve what is coming to you.
As for LH. If Snak had spent the time he uses to complain about things on the forums ingame, LH would still be official.
It is a different case with LH than it is with DHC. As LH is focused on player interactions. It is not Snak's fault that LH has been on life support in the last two years. The faction has struggled enough during that time and it would've lost its officialdom much earlier if not for certain individuals behind the characters. It is a shame to see this faction lose its officialdom but on the other side, it's a good feeling that the struggle is finally over. It has been an honor.
Well, when the devs make the game actively worse and much less enjoyable for the faction or even entire houses it's not unreasonable to lose enthusiasm I think?

At least they could've signed up to the GB massacre event in Coronado and probably this alone could've given them enough activity time to remain official, but instead, only |LH indies has registered and showed up

This and Lemon's points about the economy and capital ship combat are the prime reasons why I have heard from fellow faction members they do not log anymore. They log in, see that their ships handle like molasses, have no powercore and all the rest of the many criticisms about 5.0 combat, log off and try to trade and find that there are like 2 viable routes (gold iridum, light arms, etc). They do these ad nauseum, get bored and then they log pirates, find that nobody is trading because of the aforementioned reasons, and then log off to play another game.
Trying to force activity with Korean MMO grind-esque Earhart commodities for weapons that are marginally better than base weapons will not work, I'm afraid.
5.0 needed more time in the oven, to say the very least.
I wanted to say I feel that Mel would be proud of how far TAZ came despite its sort of lack luster end, although perhaps poetic considering its rather explosive beginnings. The TAZ was what originally pushed me to join Discovery back all those years ago when I was but a wee lad trying to get my first car. Part of this was because even on my USA server you were still required to be apart of the main faction on GC in order to fly the flag. I only had an opportunity to fly with Mel on very, very, very few occasions before he left to manage Eris directly. But I am certain he would be proud of the longevity and commitment we all played in these intervening years to bring not only the TAZ to life, but all Zoners.

Like RL, there is a wide range of requirements needed to keep people occupied/happy.
There are those than occupy their time without outside influence and at the other end of the spectrum, there are those than that need others to provide things for them to do (spoon feed them) as they can't think for themselves.
Now we all fall somewhere within those two extremes.
For the Devs, one end of spectrum is easier for them to provide for. ie, they provide the 'tools' and those people will find things to do with them.
As you get nearer and nearer to to the other extreme, it is more and more hard work to keep those people happy, as those will have different requirements to make the Game 'enjoyable' for them ie more PvP, more to explore, more to make etc.
Quote:when economy absolutely shitter shatters the majority of trade and then we shoehorn economy onto pobs but it turns out it kind of sucks too and then people stop trading in houses and then pirates and lawfuls stop logging in houses
With more items being made on POBs there are now more people out their collecting the required commodities/mining. The items require a lot of commodities to build and are spread out over the whole map (some of them are only available in one system) so a lot of travelling is required.
Quote:Speaking for [FLG] it's just ... not good. Baffling oversights like removing propaganda without the ultra-easy re-add with all the hotfixes and no quasi and unlawful sell points when getting Ore from miners still not being re-added is making things difficult for a faction that can only demand cargo.
Within Gallia you might not be able to sell the ore directly to NPC Bases, but you do have Gallic 'fences' that can take the ore off your hands and move it on to those sale points. I know they have POBs in Provence and I am sure with a little RP, they will willing help you move what you take off of the miners (I also thought you were in the UC). Also the ore isn't where the credits are, it is in the Refined Goods (HRC). Once again the UC would help you 'shift' the goods to achieve good prices.
It just requires a little thought and some RP.
I am afraid you will just have to wait for the toilet paper ....eh.... I mean Propaganda.

Yeah, the thing Denis is - ease of play and straightforwardness if that's a word . Running a niche faction is hard enough, when I discussed the direction of Maquis Haste left and then came in and started looking at the 3+ years of outdated rep sheet info, and that's the lead dev for crying out loud. There are close to no indies, every little thing we rely on that gets deleted like propaganda, proper smuggling or the ore pirating + hauling mechanic has a big impact.
Every extra step you need to do turns people off, and so does every workaround, this is a game after all, a game meant to be fun. Before you went to mining spots, took ore, and then took your pick from the fences and foreign sell points on where you will drop it off. It was exciting pirating ore and going to Omicrons and back, just like that, at a decent profit even on a 3k frigate. Now I need to go to Corse to create a refinery and build a PoB near the field, or to run a lossmaking operation where I go to Provence and then they go all the way back to the selling point. It's the same with LH and Cardamine, we actually met them often in Tau-37, and they ran that route often - but it got butchered.
The easy options are not here, the game turns into a "job" that makes sense to devs with every obstruction, extra step and complexity they add, which turns off the players who have better entertainment options. Mind you this was the patch quarter, the exciting quarter with new content. We will really see what impact the patch has had on the game in the next two.

Of course, if you are going to continuously do one trade route you will get fed up.
Why stick to the same trade route?
There are lots of different routes you can take, but if you are only interested in making the largest amount of credits in the shortest time, then, yes, you will end up restricting your options.
