Orbital Spa and Cruise has had the majority of its specific passenger types removed from the Mod, under the claim of adding them back after the "economy is fixed". Fixed being defined as whatever the focus is currently on for the POBs gives up or burns out.
In the place of these unique RP trade commodity's; we've been given generic "Passenger(house)" instead of the flavorful versions which were worked on and added to the game over the years. By removing these unique items, along with providing zero indication as to when (or even if) they will be re-added to the game, In my opinion, is a major step backwards.
A focus needs to be made on getting non-pob centered trade items returned to the game, especially those items (such as OS&C passengers, GC's unique Cardi-Cola, and others) that provide the majority basis for that fractions existence and trade.
I am inclined to agree here, it is a shame that OS&C got hit so hard with the economy revision. I know from first hand experience how difficult the economy tinkering can be (though not since the recently made changes) but OS&C does need something, at the moment they are kinda in trouble I'd say.
That Being Said
We are still coming off the heels of the Holiday season, and some places are still celebrating the end of their seasonal holidays. I know there was mention in the Discord Dev-Lounge of some sort of update in the pipeline that (and this is strictly an assumption) is probably near release. Prior to the holidays the update cycle seems fairly frequent so I have no doubt once the team gets back up to full speed that we will be getting economy fixes.
I'll add that having sellpoints mainly within Houses is boring.
I've lost the reason to visit more dangerous parts of the Sector (Omicrons, for example) to do exotic tours.
Yes, I can get passengers to Vespucci, but what will I bring back? I'm a liner, not a cargo hauler!
The removal of passenger flavor and route options is the core reason for my inactivity here.
As the Leader of OS&C, I have to agree with this Post. We Lost many Commodities that our Faction even Helped to make Unique. The Old Passenger Descriptions were Written by OS&C Members to give them more Character and a Laugh here and there to people who have Read them. They were also Lightly Sarcastic and Stereotypic just to add some more fun. The Fact that our Members could Add something to the Lore of DISCO even when it was something so Small was a Great Source of pride for OS&C.
Plus we lost many Routes that made it Profitable to leave the Beaten Path and also fly into the less Active Regions of the Game to Interact with Players there. I loved the Former Omicron Run where I brought Pilgrims from Freeport 11 in Omicron Delta to the Baffin System. And on top of that, we aren't even Allowed to Use the shiny new "Liner" that was Added to the Game.
I would love to see our Passengers Return to the Game and maybe have some more Variety added. How about House house-specific food Comoditys? I mean I would love to Transport Burgers from Liberty, Fish and Chips from Bretonia, Ramen or Siushi from Kusari, Schnitzel or Schweinebraten From Rheinland, and Crossaints or Pizza Baguettes from Gallia. I mean we already have House Specific Booze in the Game so why not Food?
Strongly agree. I imagine that for a faction like OS&C, which is dedicated to passenger transportation, the disappearance of different types of travelers, and of some luxury commodities, has greatly broken the possibility of doing fun things in RP in accordance with the lore of the faction.
However, this has happened with an immense amount of commodities that have disappeared from the game, making it much more difficult to implement RPs that depended on the transportation of some of these goods. In my opinion, the economy and trade have been oversimplified, giving it a more "practical" meaning by eliminating commodities that were basically the same but with a different name, but equally doing it infinitely more boring. It's also true that by eliminating certain goods, routes have been eliminated that have directly sunk many factions economically, while others have benefited tremendously because they are now the only ones that "produce" them.
At the time, the devs already said that this change was due to the fact that, by remaking the economy system from scratch in update 5.0, it was much easier to eliminate everything and gradually add more things, than to maintain parts of the original system. That is why I hope that this is nothing more than a temporary effect (which is perhaps taking too long, I agree) of the remodeling of the economic system that has come with the last update, and that little by little more commodities will be added to enrich the economy again, at least as much as it was before, and that we can have a sufficient variety of goods to be able to do a proper RP, and that there are no factions doomed to inactivity due to the lack of trade routes with products suitable for the lore.
If not, I'm afraid we've taken a significant step backwards on the server.
And never once was leadership of OS&C consulted or asked to provide any kind of feedback to help make the mod better. It boggles me and bothers me that this is such a difficult thing for most of the dev team to grasp.

A lot of fations lost their commodities and trade routes. This economy rework completely fucked over factions that had their unique or specific commodities. Majority of devs don't care. It's a tragedy.
I will be missing the VIP Transcription ... plus some other commodities as Ambassadors, and so on :c ...
