Good day to you lot. I'd like to introduce myself as a client that's looking to buy something that fits your expertise. Caliban by name, if that's something you'd want to know too.
Let me know if you're interested. We can talk details after.
I mean, you'll have to be a bit more specific when it comes to "something that fits our expertise", because that could refer to an awful lot of things. Making shipments, stopping shipments, offing people, figuring out about people, software creation and software destruction, we got a lot.
Mr. Ling, Lane Hacker Inner Circle. So, what can a humble Hacker get for a... I'm assuming freelancer, given how you kinda just appeared from nowhere wanting to cut deals?
Yeah, I'm a Freelancer. One that's looking for some powerful software. The type to use for myself - Overclock most of my subroutines to allow maximum performance. For my ship - a modified Valkyrie that runs on already ancient and poorly made strings of codes for targetting systems and power management algorithms.
And of course, I'm looking for offensive upgrades. The kind to fry a ship's computer - can be a little creative here.
Is this the kind of work you would be interested in?
For yourself, uh, you do know that overclocking augments comes with a severe risk of catching horriblypainfuldeath-itis, right? I undervolt my own half the time just to not take unnecessary chances. It's something that's doable, get me a list and I'll get the packages set up.
For your ship, send a rundown of it's internal equipment. I'll mark out sore spots. It'll probably run a high price, though. Nothing a freelancer can't handle, yeah?
And for the "offensive upgrades", that's an awfully custom paint job. I can definitely include it in the internal equipment, but you should know that this stuff is usually exclusive to the Inner Circle. Selling it isn't cheap for us, tactically, so it won't be cheap for you, financially.
I know the risks of overclocking cybernetic augments. I'm full of them as is. Right now one thing I need is a better-- no. A functional OS. Well protected. I've had just about enough with Ageira's abandonware.
As for the ship? Kind of a tough thing to put over the net. Might be best if you glance over it in person. One thing's certain enough. It makes a technocrat's synthetic skin crawl.
Lastly - the other upgrades. Yeah, well. I wouldn't dare think otherwise. I witnessed what your soft does to a Navy Fighter. Give me a rough number. We can haggle from there on - unless you want to do it when you see the ship with your own eyes.
An OS I can do. Though, generally, people go to the Technocrats for that one. They've got some sick bio-neural interfaces. Effectively makes you the OS and augments your managing capability. I can definitely check your system's hardware by hand.
Going over ballpark estimates, the EW would be bundled with the hardware work. Ballpark 500,000 on top of ballpark 2,500,000. Numbers will vary depending on what work and materials you actually need. The OS would probably be around 20,000. I'll modify a ShardlightOS to allow for undervolting, overclocking, speed preset, and precision preset, plus cleaning out the stuff that sorta just bogs down the runtime. Shardlight is what I use, it doesn't holdover user tags and cobweb tracers, so it's a lot harder to get tracked down through it.
Let's get the ship up to somewhere I don't have to answer questions at. Noshima over in Shikoku work for you?
