I have said this many times already, but nothing has been done so far.
So, I'll try once more, appropriatly and insightfully.
Rule 3.4 states that threatening with reports and imposing as admin is forbidden.
However there are a lot of sanctions based on the fact, offender rule-lawyered.
Actually, those people who only rule-lawyer is not breaking any written rule, as there are absolutely no statement forbidding exactly that.
In order to actually deliver the meaning of the rule, it must state all actions which are prohibited. This, according to evidenced sanctions, includes rule-lawyering.
So, I would like to kindly ask administration to improve wording of this exact rule, to avoid contextual/hidden rules, and have it properly written in text for rules.
...
If anyone feels the same about it, you could leave a comment here.
If anyone wishes to discuss it, I suppose it can be done here as well.
I often had the problem that I wanted to explain the rules the other one broke, but felt like if I did so, he might see it as rulelawyering and sanction me.
The only thing that should be against the rules should be THREATENING with a sanction. If I want to help the other guy, I shouldn't have to fear him sanctioning me for doing so.
So, yes, please make it clear what is allowed and what isn't.
its very clear ,dont get confused on this , if a player clearly says that he will report about you to admins or make you get sanction ,then he commits the Rule violation no matters he was Wrong or Right on filing a Report.
If he threats you like , You will pay or Get a good lawyer , i l see you. Then i dont think so he did a rule violation because he didnt mentioned clearly what he want to do in actual and what is the actual meanings of above lines because they seems like RP ,and didnt look like a sanction or Report threat.
It's common sense, if you fail and refuse to admit you failed it's your problem. Most of the time rule lawyerers do that, and are even insulting. It's fair game.
My personal experience is that people who lawyer in game don't understand the rules themselves, they also have no regards for the rule 3.3 whatsoever.
Edit: Even worse is when the lawyer understands the rules himself but hopes the player he lectures does not in order to gain an advantage of some sort.
Sorry, couldn't help it.
The only sanction I ever pulled was for rule lawyering.
My mistake was doing it in system chat, so I have no valid argument to the sanction.
The thing is, if I had done it in PM's or /local, I still ran the risk of sanctions for 'rule-lawyering', which to me seems odd, especially if you're trying to help a new player avoid sanctions themselves...
