So as many of you know, or might not know, the Avatar: The last airbender cartoon has been given a chance to continue from where it left off.
This was actually one of the first cartoons I watched when I got cable and even up to today it stands up as a really good example of storyline, art and usage of a fantasy setting which is not based on JRR Tolkien.
The first one had three seasons, each representing one of the books (Water, Earth and fire) where we follow the kid's journey to master his fate. But as the series ended...we could not help but to wonder where could it go from there. Only one loose end was given at the end, where Zuko asks his father about his lost mother.
Well then, recently the first episode of The Legend of Korra was leaked, which was supposed to air on 14th of April. And by now it has spread around many of the video hosting sites.
To be honest...it looks okay, but it is odd to start off with someone who already knows their stuff. I will not go into detail, see it for yourself.

There are a few things I really wonder about. One of them being, since all of the old characters apart from Katara, how did the passing away of Iroh affect Zuko. And was Iroh buried next to his passed away son- Lu Ten.
Yes and, obviously, Iroh is my favorite character there.

Sadly I do not think this will be the case. It seems as like the original series exceeded their expectations. A series that were ended with most plot threads closed apart from Zuko's agenda.
It seems that it was meant to continue as a mini series or something, but they decided to make a sequel without much relation to the original, character and scene wise. It seems that while the original series were based around 16th century, the new one seems to be based on the 19th. Quite a leap.

Good choice.
I'll admit that although I've been somewhat eagerly anticipating the Legend of Korra for a while now, I've remained a bit wary of it after seeing a few of the teasers. I don't have any problem with the apparent time-leap, but more with the way that Korra has been characterized in the trailers. Like, angry "I'm gonna do things my way" teenager. Of course they've been marketing it toward the younger crowd (as they should, really), so I'd imagine they're trying to pitch it in a way that will allow the angry teenagers in real life to empathize with the protagonist. Maybe I'm worrying for no real reason.
I guess I'll take a look at it now and see how many of my fears are realized and how many are done away with.
