I have a question. Why the Battleship class is so diverse in a way that to me seems actually like too much diverse and thus too much of a disbalance? For this example, a Liberty Dreadnought is almost twice weaker in the most important stats comparing to for example Rheinland Battleship.
Here are the stats (Liberty ship / Rheinland ship):
Hull strength: 840,000 / 1,400,000 (almost twice)
Number of turrets: 13 / 23 (almost twice)
If the first ship is supposed to be a lower class battleship, then why do they have almost identical manouverability as if it was a little improved for the weaker ship, making it a little faster turning would make some elementary sense? There should be differences between the ships within the same class but not as huge as 40%. If not, then maybe another ship class is needed to fit the idea, like Light Battleships? Following the observation that a lower than Battleship class is Battlecruiser and all ships within it have around twice lower stats than Battleships. This obviously makes sense but another double difference within the same Battleship-class doesn't.
I'm asking because it makes no sense to me and anyone who can convince me why it does make sense, I'm open and listening. Just please spare me answers like 'BECAUSE. Never question what Admins do. Accept it or leave.'. Share your thoughts with me!
many ships have rather specialized roles. - you have to take size, shape, general design, weapon arcs, energy, energy regenetation and all that into account, too.
and even then - ships may appear poorly balanced in some cases. so you also have to look at the political layout and the to a minor extend - the lore ( the last one not too much, or ppl argue that the lore suggests that they "deserve" something much tougher )
in your example - the rheinland battleship is an ancient behemoth. a huge tank with tons of armor and weapons. much more a barely mobile area denial weaponsplatform than a tactical weapon
the liberty dreadnought is a later generation ship. - much more mobile and sophisticated.
even then - some aspects about a ships balance might not take effect in actual gameplay.
so for example:
the rheinland battleship may have a crew of 2000 people
the liberty dreadnought operates at 100% with only 300 .... and/or the materials used enables the liberty navy to deploy 3 dreadnoughts for every one rheinland battleship.
also "names" and "classes" might only make sense within a given faction. - so what liberty calls a "dreadnought" might not be called a dreadnought by rheinland standards at all. and who knows - maybe rheinland would have called it a "pocket battleship" or a "battlecruiser" rather than a dreadnought.
Projectile speed over distance, you see the fire coming, can you move before it hits you? Liberty BS can, because its small, and it only has to dodge a little. Rheinland BS cant, because its huuuugggee. Rheinland BS has great advantages when it is close enough to hit the Liberty BS more often, larger number of turrets and greater hull means it can delete the smaller ship at will, but only when its close enough that the target cant dodge.
Liberty Dread with proper CD support doesn't leave the RMBS a single chance. It's too OP.
RMBS heavy gun placement in comparsion to mass center (or whenever their aim is being calculated from) prevents from "shooting without crosshair", unlike Valor, KuBS, Liberty Dread and many others can.
I.E., I can hit a TSing Dunkirk in a Valor with Cerbs only (even taking account his horrible aim on lvl10 slots, which doesnt play much role in this case, since projectile vector is Ok), I can't do so in Turtle. Projectile vector is too messed up.

"Delete the smaller ship at will" is an overexaggeration. Liberty Dread has 90% of Turtle's Anti-Battleship firepower (When firing forward), and ~70% (7.200.000 vs 10.400.000 with Cau8 on both of those) of Turtle's Hull Points, if you count in nanobots.
Turtle is heavily lacking one more forward heavy slot, heavily lacking...
