A small flight of LWB fighters is escorting a freighter of watermelons to Bruchsal base in Frankfurt to help raise the morale of their Bundschuh allies, who need all the morale they can get. A reminder of Rheinlandic greatness past is a great way to do it. Unfortunately, a flight of Corsairs just happens to be poking around the top of Frankfurt at the same time and moves to intercept the friends of the Hessians (and to steal their watermelons).
The Bundschuh, meanwhile, don't appreciate either the Corsairs robbing Frankfurt nor a delay in melons and move to assist their Stuttgart compatriots. A fight breaks out, leading to the potential for further conflict.
Each side can have a freighter and then a squad of fighters. Priority is given to faction members consulted (LWB|, VWA, Benitez), but others are fine to show up so long as we can balance it.
Time and Date
Friday 1 February for sure. Time? Uncertain. Perhaps 2000 GMT? Please post suggestions.
Depending on the outcome of the battle, new event options become available if the parties are still interested. Here is the rough outline:
Corsairs lose:
If the Corsairs lose, their movements into Frankfurt are discouraged and they seek to make a plan to punish the Rheinlanders standing in their way and getting what must be a purely lucky victory. Something in Munich (the backdoor to Rheinland) can then commence.
Rheinlanders lose:
If the Rheinlandic force loses, the Corsairs are able to cause trouble in Rheinland was less resistance. This clearly irritates the Rheinlanders and so they try to strike behind the Corsairs skirmishers in the Sigma-13 system.
