A Mk1 Prison Break.
(LR- Vs LPI- - Indies Welcome)
Background
A disturbingly humanitarian project by Deep Space Engineering has recently been dispatched for approval, with the goal of relocating the hordes of refugees crowding Planet Pittsburgh to 'more suitable' work environments. Naturally, this represents a significant drop in the Planet's economic output and is rather undesirable. To counteract the drop in available labor, the LPI has retrofitted an old Liner, McCreary, to transfer a vast number of hard time inmates (the majority of them former Rogues) from their cells aboard Sugarland to mining facilities planetside. A simple enough plan, but far from flawless, as events would show.
As a cash-saving measure McCreary's crew was drawn from civilian contractors, with a minimal LPI presence aboard to satisfy legal technicalities. Unfortunately for the Police, one of the engineers had ties to the Rogues, and it wasn't long before she sent a message to her former comrades.
McCreary's fuel supplies were set to hit zero shortly after she entered the lane to New York. If the lane were to be cut, the ship would be all but defenseless...
Event Outline
This will be a Mk1 ship event, conducted in Texas, as shown below.
The Rogues have had plenty of time to prepare the ambush, and vastly outnumber the LPI defenders. Fortunately, in a typical example of Rogue combat doctrine, early elements of the ambush force have rushed ahead to steal the glory (and loot!) for themselves. Perhaps, if the LPI are lucky, they can defeat the first Rogue wave and secure their escape, though not that of the crippled McCreary. Terrified as they were by the skirmish, the Captain opted simply to keep his hands off the wheel and wait to see who won.
The McCreary will not participate in combat.
Regardless of the outcome of the event, the Rogues will be presumed to have captured the prison ship - the Rogue engineer's reward for her help. However; the LPI may yet escape with flight recorders intact to carry word back of the betrayal.
The LPI ships and McCreary will start at Planet Houston, with the Rogues waiting on the lane. Since there's a fair bit of space out there, team leaders will make contact with each other in-game to confirm that everyone's ready before the event starts.
Acceptable Ships and Equipment
Liberty Police Inc.
Patriot
Defender
Rhino
Liberty Rogues*
Bloodhound
Mule
*On the Wolfhound: It seems rather overpowered compared to the Defender. Judging by the stats, I've seen fit to exclude it. However; I've never seen the pair fight. If anyone has information on the balance there, it would be appreciated.
Equipment
If you can't buy it in Liberty in the vanilla campaign, then it's out here too. Common sense here, folks. No armor upgrades, and no sticking nukes on Patriots. As hilarious as that would be.
Participants
The event will be composed of LPI- and LR- players. Indies are welcome to participate if the official faction is unable to make up the numbers; however, faction members will be given priority in terms of spots.
Numbers may be increased if there is sufficient interest from both sides.
Awesome. I think I'll be able to participate, if not, I'll post in advance and will find a replacement. Side: LPI- Ship name: LPI-Eddie.Pulaski[O] - some variation of that. Ship Type: Defender
