Many thanks to whoever finally got us a different favicon than the default IPB one! I have struggled with distinguishing between this and other forums quite a few times over the years, and the old one should ideally have been replaced seven or eight years ago when this forum was created.
I've got no idea what the new one is supposed to be/represent - a planet, perhaps? Not that it matters - it's just a favicon, after all - but it does seem to match our new forum colour scheme nicely, in my opinion.
My guess is that it's the V from Discovery. It does fall on a syllable-break, so I guess it makes some sense. Simple, clean, and looks nice on a white background. Good choice by the creator.
Hm. I'm hoping that I'm not the only one seeing the new one, as it does seem to have changed on all my computers. I suppose it may not be changed after all, then - I'm seeing a small blue orb (this thing), and it sounds to me like you're describing the old default IPB favicon, though I presume it could simply be down to your browser/ISP caching the old default IPB favicon.
Could you try pressing Ctrl + F5 and seeing what happens if you've got time?

EDIT: Chrome's hard refresh is a little wacky. It's showing up as an orb now.
