Is there a way to put RAM cards into a device that can be connected to a USB port? If so I would NEED this, not to mention it would be handy to 'boost' another PC's power.

This must be technically possible somehow.

If you have Vista, then you can use "Ready Boost."

its possible i think
There was this USB device sold here that works as a memory device for your OS. Freeing up more RAM for apps.

If exists you can find it on NewEgg.com
or
FrozenCPU.com

Hmmm, why though? Why don't you just plug it in internally? Putting it through a USB port would greatly reduce its potential.

That would be negligible increase for XP in my case, but every little helps.

Extra versatility and giving me a chance to torture my sister as my PC time is faster and hang'less.

UBS is simply not fast enough of a connection for external memory.
There are PCI cards manufactured that will accept RAM modules to expand memory capabilities of a pc.

USB 2.0 would be fine up to 480 megabit speed, and USB 3.0 (When unleashed) I think is in the Gigabit range. Coming out in 2009/10.

Torture your sister? Enough said, I will help you accomplish this in a ny way possible.

Yes, I have one.

Possibly just taking your new memory out after your done? It'll take 30 seconds....

I'm just not sure if a USB port is fast enough to handle that kind of thing...It would be takling all your information out, then back in again, you could even slow the PC down if the memory wasn't good enough...

Oh I know how to take them in and out, the only back fall is money. Unemployed and no income... Starting to sell on eBay for scratch.:( Not too proud of it.
