if someone takes say a police ID and starts pirating and killing innocents...
there's no clear sanction is there? we would just have to report it to another police ID or player and hope someone feels like doing something...
it's pretty much like just randoming innocents in a multiplayer rpg right?
(or we can hope to build our ship until it is stronger and go hunt him back?)

Actually he can very much be sanctioned for that. His ID does not allow for pirating and as for killing innocents that there's terrorist actions. double whammy.

The Police ID (like other lawful IDs) doesn't allow the wearer to pirate.
About the "innocents", that's really a matter of perspective. An "innocent" might have been found smuggling in a previous encounter, and the lawful wanted to fine him for the violation. If the person really was innocent and was killed for the hell of it, then it's not permitted.

Yea a bit, problem is some people overreact to the police fining them form smuggling and scream that they are being pirated by the police. But in your scenario, Id PM the guy first and try and tell him that what he is doing is wrong and explain the rules. Then if he still acts like an idiot get a screenie and then fill out a sanction report.

Depending on the offence it can be a fine, a prison stay, or a ban.
And yes, Print Screen works just dandy.

If someone with police ID ask IE trader for money (like tax) and/or simply attacks people (who are not doing anything aginst laws) then its wrong, yea, I have met Polie ID asking me for money for passing in Texas when Ive had Boron-only in my cargo, once before a long time. Its kind of aginst rules. And yeah PrintSceen works, it saves screenshot to documments/pictures or somewhere there.

seriously... how hard is it to RP out such a situation? How many times have people threatened to have my LPI sanctioned because I started to RP the corrupt LPI?

This does make me wonder if this is a role playing server, or a rule playing one.
Is he RPing a bent copper? Seems perfectly reasonable to me, if that's consistent with his character.
But then, the rest of the police force should act accordingly.
Gives me a thought for the "user command wish list" thread, but I can't be bothered to find it.
Basically just a command to make an entry into the server logs. Whether a complaint or a commendation, or even just a comment.
