Ξ Ξ Ξ Ξ ❀ To: Personnel assigned to Operation Tatari
Ξ Ξ Ξ Ξ
Ξ Ξ Ξ Ξ ❀ Subject: Operation command centre

Following the murder of Admiral Goro Okamoto, an inter-service command centre has been established the coordinate the investigation.

Findings and recovered evidence are to be reported to the command centre for analysis. Outstanding avenues of enquiry will be listed here for assignment.

Outstanding Leads:

Filed Reports:

❀ On-scene assessments. [1] [2] [3]
❀ Press leak conclusions. [1]
❀ Initial assailant trace report. [1]

Recovered Evidence:

❀ CCTV face-scans of the three assailants. [1] [2] [3].
❀ Blood samples from an injured assailant. Genetic markers confirm non-Kusari ethnicity.
❀ A bloodied Bretonian officer's blade, blood sample matching assailant's.
❀ Discarded packaging from a Cryer Field Dressing Kit, produced on Planet Denver.
❀ A Detroit Penetrator flechette pistol, discarded in the estate pond.
❀ Gate access logs using the credentials of Lieutenant Commander Hyuuma Okazaki.
❀ Fatal laser wounds inflicted on the 3 person security detail.
❀ Wound pattern on Admiral Okamoto - slit throat, 2 flechette impacts, 1 laser strike.
❀ A copy of the anonymous tip-off received by Nikkan Gendai.
❀ A photo of the crime scene featuring weapons removed prior to KSP arrival - taken by assailants.

Time runs thin. As the public story of the Admiral's death grows, rightful outrage suffuses the Kusari people. Events have been set in motion, and we have a narrow window to complete this investigation before those events overtake us.

So the "Reformed Tokkeitai" lapdog did not appear to be a traitor after all. It would be a lot nicer if Goryo did not disappear like a thief and given a little more cooperation during the operation, but we are where we are already. I had been giving a rather longer thought about the entire scene and a lot of things do not seem to match, no matter which way I would be looking at it. All the evidence seems either unrelated or confusing, but the most confusing part is the fact that the alarm has been ignited a considerable period of time, a few days perhaps, after Admiral's death.

Therefore my own conclusions, especially after that curious discrepancy as well as shots in the bedroom aimed at the weird direction, along with the blade wound being applied to the body post mortem, is that the entire assassination might have not one but two parties involved. One of the parties would be successful, whereas the second party - most likely the one which ignited the alert - came into the scene too late. It would explain unnecessary shots and blade wounds applied to the body of the long-deceased Goro Okamoto.

Ladies and gentlemen, Admiral Okamoto had a lot of enemies and that is not a mystery. Given the evidence that there has been no Kusari banditry blood found at the scene does not mean Kusari organizations might be not involved into the situation. At the same time the choice of weaponry seems not to be coincidental.

I would like to point out that Rheinland being one of the possibilities does not surprise me, and our cell prior this entire incident contacted GMG and their subdivision SC, which also seem to have similar worries about Rheinland. At the same trying to worsen relations with Bretonia would be also a Gallic goal. The change of their government never really stopped Gallic Navy from lurking around Taus and my private opinion is that the new Gallia is even more dangerous than the one ran under their deranged former king. Finally, I also think Liberty might want to worsen our relations with Bretonia, due to obvious reasons that House is basically still a strong and "forever" ally with Republic of LIberty.

It took longer than anticipated but we have compiled the list of relevant KSP officers tied to the KSP response. Journalists and editors involved in the creation of the Colony News Service article have also been identified. Tokkeitai elements are moving out to collect the State Police personnel as we speak. The Journalists and editors can be apprehended at any time in case the interrogation of first responders leads nowhere. We have arranged for neither of the involved CNS personnel to be permitted to leave the Planet over faked issues related to their papers, this should grant us some additional time.

The Colony News Service linked lead resulted in little new information, yet a most valuable revelation. The tabloid news outlet Nikkan Gendai was tipped off in written form, with a picture of the crime scene attached to underline the anonymous sources' credibility. Instead of reaching out to us, they started to drool all over a shock story and took everything for granted they were fed. Both the editor, Tsuneharu Kudo and the writer of the article, Mineyo Shirai, have done irreparable damage due to gross negligence. Within the next 72 hours, the Kikosaku doctrine will be carried out against both individuals.

As a sidenote, the State Police Detectives were cooperative for the most part. Following an extended 72 hours house arrest and continued monitoring for a week following this, everything should be alright.

The picture sent to the news outlet urges us to caution. Whoever the assailants were, their motive is clear by now: Frame it as a state sponsored hit carried out by the Republic of Liberty and provoke a public outcry causing the Admiralty to push the civil government towards acceptance of an escalation. Our network caught an communication falling in line with the assailants plan: A call to arms by an yet to be identified source.

The Tokkeitai has a new target: Yotamono. Unrelated to the assailants or not, public unrest risking warfare at this point in time must be silenced.

We will continue to commit to other outstanding leads when possible and will check in again to inform you about our decision.

Goryō

We are running out of time. According to this message, some organization is preparing a blockade in Galileo. This should not get under our radar and so far we are unable to assess how it would influence the already poor situation at the border with Liberty.

So far, my involvement into the investigation has been limited to checking leads connected to Bretonia. I have established a connection with sources within Bretonia in regard to the blade found at the scene. Some people from the times of 343 Dai Kokutai and Bretonian cooperation in Taus should be able to return a few favors.

I will look into what I can find out about the police examination of the admiral's body. Perhaps the coroner's results will provide us with further leads.

I will be in touch.

Tadaima,

We must track down the assassination team deployed to the Admiral's estate. During our investigation, I collected DNA left behind by the perpetrators. I will begin secondary analysis and retrace their route from the residence. Where there are wounded animals.... There is a trail to follow.

I will encrypt and relay additional findings to your respective relays.

In the face of a private chatter with one of the BIS agents inside Taus, I am dispatching one of the KOI agents into Bretonia immediately. The blade's situation seems more complicated than it seems to be.

Myself I am keeping an eye on the situation along Galileo border on board of IKN Komori. There is a major civilian and corporate channel activity in regard to the response to the Neural Net open message I have reported before but I am not sure if we should subdue or to simply give protection towards the protesters.

On one hand, subduing the protests might calm the Liberty side but will anger our own population against the government, on the other hand policing the protests might make Liberty see it as organized operation inside Galileo, thus giving them reason to intervene.

Konbanwa,
My report is as follows.
I've picked up the trail of the three-man assassination team from Admiral Okamoto's estate. Partial ID on one operative so far.

Code:
Immigration files uploading…5%...27%...86%...
Verifying…
Rental Agreement: Frank Ortega
Liberty Identification(Copy): Frank Ortega
Liberty Passport: Frank Ortega
Home Address: 1201 W Thornton Parkway, Lowry City, Planet Denver, 80260
Tourist Visa: Frank Ortega
Vehicle Return receipt: Frank Ortega
....
COMPLETE

Frank Ortega first showed up at the Shikoku border checkpoint about a week ago, coming in on a cross-House passenger ferry out of Colorado. He moved on to Planet New Tokyo shortly after, cleared spaceport customs without a second glance. His tourism visa listed a local hotel — NeuralNet puts it as cheap transient lodging, nothing that stands out. Visa was good for one week. Spaceport records have him departing at 22:51 on the Bumblebee passenger ferry Shirahama-maru, destination Aomori Station, Honshu.
That clean pass through customs is worth noting. Either Ortega is very good at looking like nobody, or someone made sure he wouldn't get a second look. I'm still pulling on that thread.

The strike team's movements at the estate have been pieced together:

Entry to Estate:
22:01 (CCTV confirms ingress)
Assault and Assassination:
22:02–22:05
Exfiltration:
22:06 (CCTV confirms exit)
Movement (on foot) to local store:
22:06–22:11
Transit to extraction vehicle:
22:11–22:20
(Vehicle details, license plate, and still frames uploaded)
Vehicle return:
22:35–22:40 Kurashikku Car Rentals, Regional Spaceport New Tokyo
Departure from system:
22:51 aboard Shirahama-maru

Clean work. Fast and controlled. Just visible enough that I think they wanted part of this found.
Still working on IDs for the other two operatives.

Next stop is Aomori Station, Honshu.
I'll need to try and track down docking registries, freight logs, and any Guild traffic tied to recent arrivals. If they've gone to ground somewhere, they'll need support, and support leaves a trail.
I may need authorization to lean on some Gas Miners Guild contacts. They don't tend to respond well to polite requests.
More as it comes.

For Kusari and her prosperity,

AGENT TAKAI

[[Report has been resent three times, this time successful but a day after the sender.]]

Konnichiwa.

It seems the lead with the blade has been a negative one, however it confirms that Bretonia has nothing to do with the assassination of Admiral Okamoto. At the same time it is quite curious that Colonel Daniel Alexander was diplomatic attaché to our Admiral, thanks to the background in linguistics and formal studies on Kusari history. He also undertood studies at New Tokyo univerisity for a few years. His person should also be visible on IKN Matsumoto's logs, given he has been attached there as an advisor during Admiral's presence on that vessel.

Therefore, nothing else to add to this report. We also shall keep an eye at the situation in regard to Galileo as the people gather there.
