guideship for the [Angel] faction - Jinx - 03-16-2010 after the feedback of the last presentation of a ship for the guide / support faction [Angels] - i have revised the concept to incorporate more aspects that were requested. ![]() - one of the critizisms were that the ship was too simple - and possibly too alien looking. - people asked more for a bird-like ship.. with resemblence to the feathered wings. - people still asked for a ship that was easily recognizable so - the result is basicly a very large bird. - the wings are less abstract than the liberty ships - head and "beak" are also more sculptured than on the regular ships. - this is roughly the size of a small gunboat ( no, there is no real size comparison, but thats about the size that "fits in" - it certainly is not a ship for pvp ( which wasn t a premise anyway ) the questions are: - is the ship fitting the angels faction? - should it be more abstract? - can we imagine such a ship to be used in freelancer, even by a faction that is not necessarily part of the core roleplay - but might just chose to either participate or be ooc. guideship for the [Angel] faction - Exsiled_one - 03-16-2010 hm.. i always pictured angels more as some celestial beings that were simply immune to weapons and things (as their ID says) Could the ship actually be abstract and.. transparent and with some long "tentacles" like that angel from Diablo has? I'm not saying you should scrap the model up, it looks very pretty, but I'm just asking could the thing that I asked be done guideship for the [Angel] faction - schlurbi - 03-16-2010 Jinx, I love that and I would gladly give up my current Angel Rhino for that. It looks beautiful, the Wings are purely awesome. Even for a Faction being out of Roleplay the Ship looks like it fits in there. I'd like the Wings big and noticeable, only thing bugging me is the red Stripe in the middle I'd like a blue/green-ish much better. At Ivan, which ID says something like that? Because we are using the Neutral ID, unless mine has been replaced with an Angel ID and I didnt notice it and Jinx, please no Tentacles >.< guideship for the [Angel] faction - frozen - 03-16-2010 That is, actually a pretty awesome design. i havent liked the last couple ship designs you made (no offence D: ), but good god, this is a pretty ship. there is nothing id say that needs changing except perhaps making the cockpit -slightly- wider to ensure the pilot doesnt die of claustrophobia, cuz then he wont exactly be able to help xD needs an epic texture job, and its good to go, id say. guideship for the [Angel] faction - Exsiled_one - 03-16-2010 I loathe tentacles usually but something blue and glowy or purple and glowy would be fun. Schlurbs, neutral ID forbids people to attack it, doesn't it? Basically anyone attacking you in non guard system is violating the rules of the server. while you -can- die, I'ld say that dying from a rule breaking isn't really in roleplay. So being extra dimensional or something could apply guideship for the [Angel] faction - Jinx - 03-16-2010 yea - skinning - i might even make an efford that time and not just slap a common UV skin over the parts ( well, that sounds downright lazy on my other ships - but for most ships it works fairly well ) - about tentacles and half translucent parts. - in diablo 2 or other games featuring similar designs... it only works cause those parts are in fluid motion. - a static design doesn t work that way. to be honest - for such sophisticated designs like celestial looking and ghostly shapes - the freelancer engine isn t build for ( and i m not experienced enough to create a convincing enough illusion ) about a wider cockpit - the cockpit is actually not really small - it s room for 2 people - the whole ship is quite large.... cause i d like it to have fighter agility - but gunboat class weapons ( 3 turrets ) - as well as 4 support fighter weapons. - mostly mounted to ensure a good variety of choices when it comes to guiding ( don t need to be concerned about balance - but a ship with both types, capital ship turrets and fighter mounts can simply demontrate tactics and other things better than ships with only one type ) in order to mount gunboat turrets - the ship needs to reach a specific size - so that the turrets don t look out of place. about the colour. the cockpit is only red for the contrast. when i work with the model, i like to know where the cockpit is, cause it determines the proportions the best. - and red vs. white works well. - the final model might be a steel blue with grey areas - while the cockpit might be a turquise or a light blue. guideship for the [Angel] faction - Prysin - 03-16-2010 ' Wrote:I loathe tentacles usually but something blue and glowy or purple and glowy would be fun. unless a terrorist???? I'd say try to go with the double-layered transparent nomad skin on the wings, but make it white instead of blue. |
