Fairplay vs Roleplay - Durandal - 09-05-2011

Funny how it touches on an issue unresolved three years later.

Rp, all the way, i mean cumon, Navyes are supposed to be feared, pirate ship is suposed to **** his pants when Navy ship shows up, as just as trader is ****ting his pants when pirate shows up, if you are that much for fair play stop using GBs to pirate, use transports, it goes both ways.

Can't be bothered to read 10 pages of this thread, but I will say this if it has not been said already, which it has been a little bit.

Roleplay without Fairplay is not in the spirit of the rules, nor the spirit of playing the game. Fairplay without Roleplay is almost as bad, since it IS an RP server. But having fun and being fair with no RP is better than RPing and being a powergamer who cares nothing about being fair.

The server is able to survive and have people playing with the former, the latter would just drive people away.

Fairplay of course, RP is a good thing since we are all here for it, but this is just a freakin game and no game should be taken too seriously (except Starcraft in Korea:D:D)

Funny how nobody thinks pirating in superior ship than transport is not fair.

Agreed.

Its really annoying to see that 3 Liberty dreads are chasing one sabre, its annoying to see the usage of unneccesary force.

But 7 turtles and 5 cruisers are OK vs 5 dreads, 1 LABC and 1 LSC right.

Situation 1 (Fairplay):

Two pirates (let's say they're flying LFs) are caught by a Police patrol (GRP, LPI, BPA, RFP, KSP, etc.) consisting of 1 GB, and 4 LFs). The Police decides to offere fairplay by engaging only with two LFs, while the others sit back. Pirates kill the two police LFs and the police sends another two LFs. They also die and the GB remains. At this point, the two pirates engage and destroy the GB.

Situation 2 (Roleplay):

Two pirates (let's say they're flying LFs) are caught by a Police patrol (GRP, LPI, BPA, RFP, KSP, etc.) consisting of 1 GB, and 4 LFs). The pirates run into a asteroids field and the police breaks pursuit.

Situation 3 (being a douche)

Two pirates (let's say they're flying LFs) are caught by a Police patrol (GRP, LPI, BPA, RFP, KSP, etc.) consisting of 1 GB, and 4 LFs). The pirates don't run and the police doesn't engage. They just talk. One of the police goes to skype and calls for every possible ship. Suddenly, the LFs are surrounded by cap ships, gbs, VHFs. Then they die, fast.

Which one do I like? The last one. (Or Situation 2 if I'm in a bad mood)

Have you ever seen pirates fliying LFs?

this is more likely scenario, two pirates in bombers are intercepted by one or two Navy officers, they are asked to leave the system, but they see they have a chance so they engage, Navy officers call reinforcements over group channel, several Navy ships arrive and that makes pirates eighter run away[the same thing Navy has been trying all along], or make suicide runs to try and kill some officers, of course if they chose first option Navy will pursue them out of the system because as much as it breaks server rules most pirates tend to turn around and continue pirating as soon as Navy ships are out of their radar range.

Of course if those same pirates encounter a lonely trader/miner it will be "Har har pay xx million credits because we are so strong and can smoke yer ship to bits and you can do nothing about it " speak of a fair play.
