Both are unbeatable by the average player. Capital ship raids might seem to be worse, simply because fighter pilots cannot deal with them. Then again, some players cannot deal with skilled fighter raids so they chose a capital ship to fly instead.

You're neither a worse roleplayer nor more of a pvp whore in a capital ship.

I suppose this must be decided on more of a person-to-person basis.

There is in this thread much ado about nothing - and the word people seem to be missing here is that good old word:

"Cooperation" (i learned it on Sesame street)

These "raids" have been carried out by faction and independent players alike - but even this isn't the point.

As one of the Corsairs in that OC/Corsair chat, as an indie, as a capship player and finally as an admin i have not seen yet anyone talking about factions "clamping down" on independents. And personally, if anything was to be done in an overly heavy handed manner here i wouldn't like it at all.
This is not about ganking people who don't tow the line, its not about controlling people's RP and its not about ordering anyone about. It's about talking to people that play the game with you, offering to help them, suggesting that "Hey - You can have 6 missile turrets, you are allowed but... two is a lot nicer and makes it more fun for others, think about it" (I said this to a Corsair indie cap in gamma, who promptly sold four of his turrets and left only two).
And its not about "who can and who can't fly a cap ship" (wish that discussion would just go away and die).

Showing respect to people goes a long way, persuasion, rather than force produces a more enduring result and keeping an attitude of "we should work with" rather than "Work against" something can make things go a lot more smoothly.
Factions have a role in all this process of "fairer"play we are talking about here simply because they are more organized, there are more of them and they have a grounding in established RP and hopefully "fairplay" as well - but "mentoring" as i call it, other players in this way is not limited to factions, there are many very good independent players among both the Outcasts and Corsairs who can also help out here, remember its not about "WE HAVE THE AUTHORITY AND YOU DON'T".

People need to have a little maturity about this, as Asno, one of the Corsair Elders said in the chat the other day "this is a game", all we're talking about here is mentoring, we're talking about guidance - gently and calmly making suggestions to people and getting the message across that we all want to play here and enjoy it - try and be a little fairer.

Think about it.

Exactly what I'm talking about, thanks.

All I ask is that you teach rather than kill if they don't do what you like. That's what is implied when you say you are going to regulate who can fly a cap and who cannot, hence this argument in the first place.

I think a lot of the time, people take the game a bit too seriously. Sometimes people need to sit back and realize that it is, in fact, just a game, as Laowai said. When the rules are questioned down to the last periods and commas, when the RP of a pilot is torn to shreds, when people worry about their kill quota, we get problems like this. We have PvP issues, yes - but we can fix this if we ease off the fire button for a bit.

^ This is why I'm not in-game as often. ^

Now, I couldn't be bothered to read through 10 pages of what most likely is people all going "/signed" and crap like that, but the problem is that many of the people that do this don't even generally come to the forums, and therein lies the crux of the issue. Also, stop going "/signed" and actually take action to do something about it if you see it happening. Have a word with the people doing it. You can talk about it all you like but it won't matter a bit unless someone actually does something.

we've had half a dozen outcast destroyers waltz through omicron 100/minor/major in the past two days. most have been destroyed.

If that kind of behavior keeps up, the outcasts are going to find a new enemy in the order. Right now we leave you alone for the most part, because a bunch of drugged up religious freaks on the other side of the galaxy arent really a threat to us - but the intrusions are getting to be a severe threat to order security; I'm not sure we're going to stay out of the corsair/outcast war for much longer if this keeps up.

Consider it a warning.

Don't make the behaviour of a few impact on the gameplay of a lot of people Tenny. This would be just as daft as the dessie strolling through 100.

Consider that a warning.

Tenacity, didn't you learn from last time you declared war on the Outcasts?

last time i didnt have the backing of black squadron, but to the extent of my knowledge they're getting a bit ticked off at this kind of thing lately as well.

We don't enjoy being cap spammed, so we sure as hell don't want to see our indies doing the same against the Corsairs. And we do NOT want to see it happening every other hour in the day.

I would ask you to define clamping down, but eh.

@ Dab: It seems like you want to preach etiquette and niceties?
