Traders: "Kill me now" OORP? - Caledones - 07-13-2009 Once I was asked for tax in the wording "Pay 3 mil to pass." So I replied "Oh, I don't want to pass then, I'll just sit here for a while." I can't remember who it was, but he let me go simply because of the weird reply. I usually pay all pirates, but because of the way this guy worded it, I took advantage. I still can't believe that actually worked. Traders: "Kill me now" OORP? - Varyag - 07-13-2009 If they are like kill meh, I just do as I am told and move on. Traders: "Kill me now" OORP? - litlwicked - 07-13-2009 Quote:Most of all I hear in this is "Wah wah". Corporations DO do things. Like Hire escorts. Like switch chars onto the LABC's. Base areas, well, thats up to the individual pirates conscience - will he be a sportsman about it or not? Nothing you can do about it. Tradelanes is a debatable point. Some yes, some no. I'd hate for that to become a rule. Politically they might not, but realistically what could they do? Oh I dunno, pay insurance, and hire escorts? Maybe. you say this as if you've never dealt with a corporation in real life. they will cut your throat for 1 dollar, it's all about profits, the bottom line, the stock going up. Look at the banks, fee for this, fee for that with the slightest excuse. and i am not talking about any special type of corp. Look at what coca-cola is doing in i believe mexico it was. consider this mathematically, 3 million(average asking rate) of 30 million(way above actual profits of any average route) is 10%. Are you seriously suggesting that no one misses that money? or some insurance company will fork out that kind of return? if that's wah wah, then wah some more...and wah again. Quote: Don't forget that there is an entire Two HOUSES and societies made up of Criminal elements (corsairs and outcasts) that the houses have to deal with. In comparison to what they do, tradelane/trader pirating would be considered petty theft. 'Entire' huh? Corsairs vs Outcasts vs house military, police, and mercs. Seems awfully one sided don't you think? Considering there are 4 house systems(not counting the newest addition), 4 sleeper ships vs 1. I think the population grows from 4 sleeper ships puts the population growth from a population of 1 sleeper ship split in 2 to shame. Not counting the fact that the Hispania offsprings don't much seem to care about law and order, medicine, education...don't tell me there are little elementary schools all over the Omnicrons and Omegas . I am not saying no corsair can read, or no outcast has ever seen a doctor, but honestly, all those two factions are are glorified gangs. My suggestions weren't anything serious. My main point is that there is no risk in pirating at all, no real loss even when you're caught. Sure you might have to pay what...50k to replace CM and CD ammo on a GB? 1.5 million for bomber ammo at most? Everyone loses when the pirate wins, be it the trader who got robbed or the merc who failed. Even if the merc wins, the trader has to cover the cost....the pirate can smirk and go to another system and make some more money. BFD. Quote:I hope you have just as much fun when you're outsmarted by a pirate. Yes, I have fun when being pirated, when the pirate uses a tad bit of imagination and some RP to go with it. Being chased at 2k away for 3-4 systems is some of the best fun ever(if i actually get my cruise on, which is rare), even when i'm caught, robbed or get shot down. Best incident ever was when the pirate called for his pals to put a net out in front of us to catch me...boy they hurt, good times. P.S. yes i know we're not going anywhere arguing over our personal interpretations of the social standards and settings of this imaginary world called sirius, but it's fun. Traders: "Kill me now" OORP? - Elsdragon - 07-13-2009 hmm..... well, SYnth Escorts are now beiinh used to pwn Lolpirates Traders: "Kill me now" OORP? - reavengitair - 07-13-2009 I get killed all the time. Usually because I want to run. Traders: "Kill me now" OORP? - Dra1003 - 07-14-2009 i just had to deal with this today. I was on my consortium char a trader came by me and 3 other people took 3500 units of his cargo (his ship had 5000 cargo space) he had 1500 units left and says kill me even though we didnt damage him in anyway. He was carrying gold to the KNF. Im pretty sure taking that much is justified when they are supplying the enemy. Traders: "Kill me now" OORP? - reavengitair - 07-14-2009 That was me.
