Back when i just started playing i got SNAC'ed many times in a fighter and it didnt make me go whine to the admins " Grrrraaa, crying, this is not fair!!!!! I was flying straight and this guy killed me!!! Do something about this or im gonna call my mommy!! "

Instead my thoughts were " Ingenious, the way he positioned himself for one perfect aimed hit, and the way he decided to recieve damage, all the way calculating and determening my move pattern, to hit me properly. Damn i gotta learn this freakishly skilled fighting system!!!! "

I said it once and will ask you this. Why didnt you opt for a slower version of SNAC, not the useless one??? It was not easy to hit a snub with 280 m/s weapon, imagine how difficult would it be with a 200 m/s weapon. Still good against caps, but much harder against snubs.

And someone mentioned that bombers were intended to die to fighters, this is not true.

Bombers should have a harder and more difficult time vs fighters, not being useless against them.
Why not totaly nerf gunboats also, since im pretty sure i've seen a solo gb pilot killing a cruiser on many ocassion, and gunboats were ment to kill snubs, right????
Hell, nerf cruisers too, because im sure a Cruiser expert will decimate a BS noob.

Instead when your a noob who flyes straight, dying a couple of times is actually good for you. Cause you wont stay noob for a long time, this way you only supported noobeism. When you go hard on a noob, he learns quite fast.
They did so to me, and i was grateful, not whiny and pissy

LONG LIVE THE OLD SNAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tl:dr"SNAC'ing snubs takes skill."

Guess in the middle of these ten pages you already have the answer for that.
And a noob always dies fast, be it an insta or nukes or shotgun to the face or missiles or light mortars, etc.

LONG LIVE THE OLD SNAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally someone that I can agree with. Everyone was a nub at the beginning. The first few weeks when I started playing on Disco I couldn't survive more than 2-3 jousts with a bomber but I never complained about a game mechanic, never got butthurt like others. Dying over and over kept me going and slowly started to learn how to dodge a SNAC. You can't say that is the hardest gun to dodge. When shields down you run ezpz. Even so being one of the easiest things to avoid people still complained about a game mechanic that worked for so many f***ing years. I don't understand why change it now and not when was implemented. Back in 4.85-4.86 bombers were wreking vhfs and no one was crying to their mama when they were getting killed. People here are getting more and more pathetic as the years go by.

I changed my mind. Gonna stick around a bit more to annoy people like ya. Do you have anything else wise to say?

Yeah, you're not actually as good at SNACs as you imagine you are

Unmount your civ SNAC, punch in /snacclassic, remount SNAC. You now have a 4.85 SNAC!* Terms and conditions apply.†

* SNAC is only visually identical to the 4.85 SNAC. Stats are identical to the modern SNAC. For maximum 4.85 emulation, assume any shots that his fighters and magically only do 18,000 damage are impacted by server lag from having 200 players online and the overclocked Pentium 4 in majkp's kitchen starting to reach critical temperatures.
† This post is intended to be humourous in a sea of upset and despair. Levity is not the same as flippant ignorance. Please shetpost responsibly.

One post regarding SNAC being nerfed that made me laugh. Kudos

I've been mulling this one over and thinking about it for a while, and I believe I'm ready to give my own input.

Despite having been here periodically over the course of 11 years, with SNACs being more or less the same in terms of how they function, I'm honestly glad to see a bold move like this. I think the tweaks made yesterday to the initial SNAC change were a sound call; even against transports, it made sense in my mind for a SNAC to be dealing full damage. Now that the damage nerf is applied simply to fighters/freighters/bombers, I think it's in a decent spot.

I will admit that over the course of time, it was immensely satisfying to land a SNAC hit on an unshielded fighter. Conversely, it was also immensely frustrating to spend 30 minutes whittling someone down, only for them to get a lucky hit in with 10% hull/no regens remaining. I also never truly touched the SHF class, in fear of having that one person in a bomber come along and SNAC me 2 minutes into the fight, thus rendering my Cap 6 useless.

I haven't been into snubs much lately, although I have found myself yearning. The adrenaline rush is usually too much for me, but perhaps I might fair better in an SHF. Now that I don't have the anxiety of potentially encountering a one-shotting SNAC looming over me, I might just give it a shot.

Edit: This is also a considerable buff to freighters such as the Grizzly and Bactrian which are stronger at being used as pseudo-SHFs than as Turret Steering machines.
