Attention Key Staff:

I'm writing to provide a progress update on two ongoing missions: the search for Dr. Sailas Montgomery and the Dreamscape project, and the ongoing situation at Freeport 9.

Missing Person Case:

As you know, locating Dr. Montgomery and the Dreamscape remains our top priority. Recent weeks brought an unexpected development: an individual claiming to be Dr. Montgomery's son offered information potentially corroborating their story. While their identity remains unverified, the details provided indicate a possible lead toward the Dreamscape's whereabouts.

Leveraging this intel, I've prioritized tracking the Dreamscape with the hope it will lead us to Dr. Montgomery. To expedite this mission, I've authorized the preparation of our second support vessel, the Cartographer, for a deployment to Omicron Theta.

The Cartographer's presence in Omicron Theta offers multiple advantages:

Proximity to key locations: Omicron Theta's central position grants easy access to Freeport 8 in Sigma 15 and Freeport 11 in Omicron Delta, both potential leads in our investigation.
Monitoring Freeport 9: As you are aware, Freeport 9 has been an ongoing issue. The Cartographer will allow us to closely monitor the situation and ensure Starlight's neutrality in the unfolding dispute.
Facilitating the Freeport 11 Event: In addition to its investigative tasks, the Cartographer will serve as a vital support vessel for the upcoming event at Freeport 11 later this month.

With the Cartographer's deployment imminent, I urge all relevant teams to:

Review and share any intel: If you possess information related to Dr. Montgomery, the Dreamscape, or the situation at Freeport 9, please share it immediately.
Prepare support teams: Ensure your teams are ready to provide any necessary assistance to the Cartographer's crew.
Stay vigilant: Keep your ears open for any developments related to our missing colleagues or the Freeport 9 situation.

Remember, transparency and collaboration are crucial in these challenging times. Let's work together to bring Dr. Montgomery and the Dreamscape home while safeguarding Starlight's interests in the wider sector.

A few important updates from the front of the line, sir.

  1. We are currently awaiting the arrival of the Starfliers representative, Mr. Albert McKenzie. Records obtained from Dr. Montgomery claim him to be a blowhard and arrogant son-of-a-bitch. I will need to ensure I keep on my best behavior and ensure that I flatter him in order to expedite his progress.
  2. In my off-hours, I have been working on finalizing my Doctorates degree. It is not required for my day-to-day operational status as Head Engineer, but it is required for my position of second-in-command. I will keep you updated on my progress,
  3. One of my contacts has brought a considerable amount of Salvage from taking out Wild ships in the region. As such, we have a surplus of Prototype Components.
  4. Lastly, my contact has indicated that the first fleet of the Order may be interested in working together with us in their home region. We clean up Wild ships in their area and utilize the salvage obtained to research how they are modified. We can offer the Order a research position onboard Seward to aid us with this. In exchange, they can buy the Prototype Components at a discounted rate as a sort of indirect payment for allowing access to their home. Tell me what you think on this.

I'm going to get back to work, please advise if you have any other tasks for me to take care of.

I'm thrilled to announce a brand new collaborative research project between Starlight Research Consortium and the Starfliers organization!

Project Overview:

We'll be working with Starfliers to develop a groundbreaking telescope platform equipped with a permanently active ARAPSS Mk. VIII scanner. This innovative combination has the potential to revolutionize our ability to study the cosmos!

We're still in the initial stages, focusing on a thorough feasibility study. This includes:
  • Compatibility analysis between the ARAPSS Mk. VIII and the Starfliers' chosen telescope design.
  • Exploring power requirements and integration with their station's reactor system.
  • Assessing data analysis needs and infrastructure requirements.

This is where you, the brilliant minds of Starlight, come in! We're inviting all teams to contribute their expertise and ideas to this exciting project. Here are some ways you can get involved:
  • Engineering Teams: Share your knowledge on telescope design and integration with active scanning systems.
  • Power & Reactor Teams: Advise on the feasibility of powering such a system from a station's reactor.
  • Data Analysis & Software Teams: Help us develop robust protocols for analyzing the vast amount of data this system will generate.
  • Anyone with an Idea!: No matter your area of expertise, if you have a thought or suggestion, don't hesitate to share it!

We'll be hosting a brainstorming session soon to discuss the project in more detail and gather your valuable input. We'll send out a separate message with the date and time shortly.

Good evening, sir. A few updates for you to review.
  • The Exotics Material Lab has been brought fully online and the respective new hires have been brought up to speed on SLRC protocols.
  • We've entered into an agreement with a Freelancer operating out of Zurich who is hunting down ships with infected crew. He is sourcing us Military Salvage in return for room and board during his off-hours. The only down side is along side the Salvage, he is bringing pods with deceased infected inside.
    • I advise either contacting the Order to dispose of these, or enact a similar system to the one installed on Freeport 11 to instantly kill anyone or anything that is even suspected of being infected.
  • Upon reading the dialogue between yourself and Rose, I have prepped a few ships to journey into Earhart at your direction.
  • Additionally, we are prepared for our joint research project with the Starfliers and have begun developing new hardware for this project. Speak with the new hires in the Labs department for further information

That's all, for now.

Leo,

Thanks for the update. The Exotics Lab coming online is great news, and getting the new hires up to speed on SLRC protocols is crucial. However, a few things in your report raise some concerns.

Infected Pods: "Zurich, infected, and crematoria requests" is not exactly the morning news I was hoping for. Where are these pods currently being stored? Let's make sure those areas are clearly marked and strictly off-limits to anyone who doesn't absolutely need to be there.

Studying Incubi: This freelance deal for salvage is interesting, but functionally, what use do we have for studying the deceased infected? Are we hoping to glean some insights for preventing future outbreaks? If not, perhaps we can negotiate with this freelancer to leave those pods behind. Every less infected corpse on the station is a win in my book.

Order Disposal: Contacting the Order about disposal seems risky. Their zero-tolerance approach is...well, legendary. Walking right up to their front door with infected pods feels like a good way to get quarantined, or worse. Let's explore getting a face to face meeting before bringing up disposal options, they need to believe our processes are more robust, even for 'dead' incubi.

Earhart Mission: I appreciate you prepping the ships for Earhart. We'll discuss deployment details once I have a chance to review the intel.

Starflier Collaboration: Excellent news about being ready for the joint research project! I'll be sure to connect with the new hires in Labs to get a handle on the new hardware development.

In the meantime, keep me updated on any developments with the infected pods, and let's brainstorm some safer disposal options.

Pathfinder Report One

Salutations. This is Pathfinder-1, Dante Flintlocke, reporting.

I began my trip after picking up my newly refurbished Arrow Interceptor from Shetland in Newcastle and aiming my vessel towards Coronado for engine and sensor array pickup. Barrier Gate Station's renovations are complete and the station is looking much more sharp nowadays. During my stay, several Auxo vessels as well as a Freelancer named Lazurith appeared. I stayed around until a CR showed up and tensions appeared to be mounting between the Auxo vessels and the military in the area.

I gave them my name as Matthew Hawthorne, due to OPSEC and being unsure if releasing any information to them is authorized. I departed the area and rendezvoused at Ikarus Station for my final sensor configuration, installation of Stealth systems and Matrix, as well as for filing this report.

I will be departing the area, bound for the Copernicus system where I will do a new in-depth analysis of the system and will have a report on your desk as soon as I have completed.

Flintlocke out.

Pathfinder Report One - Addendum

Salutations. This is Pathfinder-1, Dante Flintlocke, reporting.

I apologize in advance for the duplicate reports. As a Pathfinder, I feel that this is something that needs to be reported ASAP.

After upgrading my star-chart of Copernicus and heading through Liberty, I decided I would take an alternate path and instead head through Ontario as my charts of that system are critically outdated as well. I will have a more comprehensive report on your desk as soon as I have compiled a detailed report of the systems. However, during my chart of the Ontario system, a planet at Bravo-2 in the system--Planet Sudbury from internal records--was exhibiting unusual readings. At first, I believed it to be a malfunction in my sensor array as it was just configured. However, preliminary scans of the planet point to a hyperspatial signal coming from the surface of the planet or just under it's crust.

Attached you will find an image from orbit of the planet. However, due to there being a number of large wrecked ships in orbit, this lead me to believe that this signal may be hazardous to human craft or that they were attacked en-route to investigate the same signals as myself. I departed the area after taking my passive scans and images and departed the system via the California route. On the way to our exit, we took a lap around Fort Ramsay under a stealth field and noted that a jump hole to Inverness appears to have opened coinciding with whatever it is on the planet becoming active. I may not be an egghead scientist like the rest of you, but the coincidence is a little on the nose here.

Attached you will find images of items of interest in Copernicus with their coordinates attached. I recommend we deploy survey vessels to these locations--pending security review--for further study and analysis.

Flintlocke out.

ADDITION: On our exit from Ontario, our scanners picked up what appeared to be a Vagrant signature. The system may already be attracting an alien element.

Salutations. This is Pathfinder-1, Dante Flintlocke, reporting.

I have good news. It appears that the Dreamscape is not within range of the defensive platforms within Earhart, instead it is just outside of their firing solution. This is, no doubt, how Dr. Emery was able to escape their wrath when she disembarked from the ship.

The damage to the ship is extensive as Dr. Morningstar surmised it would be. Initial scans of the ship show at least four to six critical points on the super structure on the ship that will need to be assessed by him in full, "to verify their ability to withstand the gravimetric tidal forces sustained within a rift transition point" (his words, not mine, I have no idea what it means).

I was able to utilize the provided A.B.A.D.D.O.N. sub-mind to connect to the main computer for a few moments to get limited data from the internal sensors and many other sub-systems onboard the ship. Life-support is on it's last legs as well as many of the other systems including main power. Unless Dr. Morningstar is a miracle worker in hiding, I don't see how you are going to get this large carrier out of the Earhart anomaly without significant work.

Due to interference, I was unable to get any meaningful images of the area. Once we enter Earhart, I will guide the SLRC fleet to the ships destination and assist where I can.

Lastly, I have some data that I was able to download from the vessel that I am bringing back to Ikarus. I will inform you if I discover anything important for you to review.

Flintlocke out.
