Or you had to have balls to gab only a few batteries for a short cloak burst RE: Official Activity Q4 2025 - LuckyOne - 01-07-2026 Let's face it, most people that knew how to keep a community together left when the admins/devs firmly reined in any effect on the overall storyline. People simply don't want to waste time playing something that only pretends to be a sandbox and get all their efforts building a sandcastle brought down because of the whims of others. I'm not sure even returning a part of the control back to the community would bring those people back. It's a different mod now, but the casual PVPers are being driven away by all the jaded oldtimers. You are correct. Re-affirmed when you have an admin trolling a player who raises perfectly valid and genuine points in what we can only assume is an attempt to discredit in this very thread. RE: Official Activity Q4 2025 - Luke. - 01-08-2026 With all due respect, where is this trolling taking place exactly? RE: Official Activity Q4 2025 - Lemon - 01-08-2026 Well Laz tried to be funny with Oblivion but I hijacked that troll to make a point RE: Official Activity Q4 2025 - Lemon - 01-08-2026 One thing I want to point out from the data in the OP I haven't mentioned because that's not how I play - 0 Hauling and PoB factions have an issue. PoBs ( sieges aside) are at the all time best with amazing magic @Aingar put in - the modules, weapons and ship making are an amazing OPTIONAL top up from the easy to get into A to B Hauling like the OG Freelancer everyone can understand. The Unrefined ore killed cargo piracy at mining points, but heck - Discovery is now the trade and PoB tycoon simulator and people who like that gameplay seem to have a good time, they don't have to care about selective admin voting either outside of siege defenses - so that part of Disco doesn't seem bad at all judging by the data. I just wish me and my friends were the ones enjoying that gameplay - I envy the GMS guys just having a good time
RE: Official Activity Q4 2025 - JorgeRyan - 01-08-2026 What gameplay do you want to see @Lemon? RE: Official Activity Q4 2025 - Lemon - 01-08-2026 (01-08-2026, 08:27 AM)JorgeRyan Wrote: What gameplay do you want to see @Lemon?As was mentioned in the thread - fix caps PvE, PvP, return to the fun first, arcade mentality, and drive developments based on activity data, not personal ambition and trying to make Freelancer something it is not. That's for cap players who left that count in the hundreds. You don't hear them complain, they just silently vanished if you look at the tracker data. A roll back that was mentioned in the thread is not a bad idea at all I'd say - the sharp drop in cap play was when the mass and slowness was introduced, while PvE was made much harder and much less profitable but more complex at the same time, and so did the mechanics, core management. Less guns, even dropping shields to be able to shoot got introduced(!!!) etc. And for roleplaying OFs - make them feel like they matter again, like they are the ones helping to shape the world, like they are important, at least the perception of it - you will bring back drama and arguments, sure, but at least people will care and make these ancient pixels matter again instead of apathy. Hauling and PoBs - heck why change them, everyone is doing it, let them - it got to a stage where pretty much all PvP, PvE and combat ships patrolling factions on paper are haul first lol RE: Official Activity Q4 2025 - Maik - 01-08-2026 (01-07-2026, 03:27 PM)Groshyr Wrote:(01-07-2026, 11:18 AM)Nicolás Diego Wrote:(01-07-2026, 09:36 AM)darkwind Wrote:(01-06-2026, 12:55 AM)Lemon Wrote:(01-06-2026, 12:48 AM)Laz Wrote:This guy gets it - nostalgia simplicity like the Elder Scrolls - thank you friend, honestly it wouldn't be a bad idea to have OFs not only have impact on story but to be consulted on ship mechanics changes as well, and how they might impact the actual gameplay, and be the first ones to be invited to test servers with their say having weight. Damn I got rickrolled RE: Official Activity Q4 2025 - Akhetaten - 01-08-2026 I'm going to go against what seems to be the main message coming from people in this thread and say that I disagree with the take that balance is butchered. I won't lie, I (and a number of people in my circle of acquaintances) are definitely part of those aforementioned cap players who silently "quit" the game, but we did not do so because "caps are ruined". I'm very much not a fan of the whole dev hatred train that people seem to so carelessly ride on, and while I didn't think I'd be posting in this thread, I find it difficult to resist the temptation. The real problem that's forcing people out of the community is the community itself. There's undoubtedly people who belong in the group of players who stopped playing caps - for reasons that I cannot comprehend - and it's many of those people who are ruining the game for the rest of us who actually enjoy it. Because instead of simply understanding that this game maybe no longer is for them and moving on with their lives, they continue to log on with their only intention being to ruin someone else's fun at the game. I am speaking to all those of you who firmly oppose the idea of logging on to simply roleplay with someone who's online. And I am speaking to those of you who refuse to log a capital ship to fight a capital ship and instead prefer to bring a bunch of bombers to instead gank said capital ship. You are the reason this game is dead, not the development team. |
