Battleships- a solution - Exsiled_one - 09-03-2009 I can't see how would I be jealous or anything like that. Having at my acess about 4-5 BS, 8 cruisers and whatnot I just feel no pleasure of driving them unless we have some special defense needed. I always felt those other people flying couriously shaped big ships in space have need of compensating for something. Battleships- a solution - joshua_cox - 09-03-2009 I voted that we make them factional, but let Well-known and well-RP'd characters keep their battleships if they're indies. Personally, whilst I really like the idea of people making their battleships more unique, I do like seeing the ocassional indie capital out there, unrestrained by faction laws and acting on their consience rather than being restricted by laws. It would also help place the Liberty Navy in check. I when I was flying my LPI character one time, a LN capital ship simply blew up an NPC civilian carrier because they were taking too long to go through a jump gate. I gave the 200 times-my-size battleship a massive scolding. Good times. Battleships- a solution - n00bl3t - 09-03-2009 ' Wrote:I can't see how would I be jealous or anything like that. So, as a faction leader, how does this affect you? Battleships- a solution - tansytansey - 09-03-2009 ' Wrote:If anything Ivan, there needs to be a restriction against terrorist-like pirates who charge insane taxes in the hope that people do not pay them just to get their PVP fix. There is. Quote:Much more of an issue than this hyper-inflated forum "lolfad" against independent capital ships.Agreed. People want something to blame, and capital ships stick out the most. There are just as many stupid people in all the other classes of ship (except maybe LFs and Hfs...) and perhaps just as many stupid people in factions. Difference is, people in factions can be slapped down for behaving like idiots, even if they are with in the rules. There are no restrictions on independants, and any restrictions that are implimented will likely hurt independants as a whole, rather than just the 'stupid' ones we want to weed out. Personally, I have fun killing the 'lolwut' battleships in Liberty. I feel bad if I take my Barghest out and kill someone having a good time roleplaying, but it's fun to kill those other cap ships. Making battleships factionalised or controlled by factions won't solve a thing. What will we complain about next? My bet will be 'indies in cruisers.' Battleships- a solution - Exsiled_one - 09-03-2009 I dont own single one, I co-own them, because I earned them and cashed out two years ago to give a BS to my faction. Torquemada was there before, there was an osiris named largrimas de oro, but he got changed now. I dont get your question, and i'm one of second in command, not a leader. My money did go there, my money went into co-finnancing some other things as well. My money went to few of those that beg to money as well, and I never saw it again. If your only justification of why should everyone keep their BS is "because they earned it" then it's really weak. "by oorp trade i have decided to maximize my profits and buy myself a bs, and act oorp with it. I have every right to because it is my ship and don't you dare to touch me." How else do you expect anyone to justify their BS, apart from earning it? Unless your definition of earn is rather narrow, and specifically related to credits. Your pessimism as to how independents "earned" their BS is lovely. Your pessimism as to how independents behave with their BS is lovely. I foresee you being at the forefront of fair faction control. Well done. Battleships- a solution - JIVA - 09-03-2009 but ivan ... what if - a trader was actually roleplaying a trader very well, made RP runs and really "earned" the ship more than MANY factions ( who partly have incognito traders and DO powertrade runs like any other ). then they transfer the money to a new char - a no name. - and their forum postcount is zero, too. they ask humbly for a battleship. - no one knows them, cause no one really associates them with the good trader. and even if - a member that posts an application with postcount #1 - can he really be a good RPer? ( thats sarcasm which WILL be applied ) who are you - and others that would decide - able to tell who is good and who is bad. would you ask such a player to reveal his trader to you? i wonder - would the official factions reveal all their traders to the public? - those that really finance them via a /givecash command? it may be quite interesting. then there is the responsibility: will YOU be made responsible when you mess up? - what if a powertrader really is a brilliant RPer in a battleship and he just had to earn money to get what he is best in. - you deny it to him... and so deny the chance for him to actually show that he s good. and another thing... i wrote it earlier some months ago ( in one of the other "restrict x threads" ) when i claim the right to decide who is worthy and who is not, i must be prepared to be responsible for my decision. - so if i decide that someone is "good" - and he messes up.... it is my responsibility. ( yes... you won t like that ) . are you prepared to take the blame? or will you say "thats not my business, i approved him and now he messes up, lets bomberwhore him" Battleships- a solution - Exsiled_one - 09-03-2009 Actually, "asking" for a battleship would be this. I'll take the Corsair way. And I'm writing this from top of my head, no plans ahead so excuise me if its not "the best" To: The glorious Corsair nation elders. To the TBH, famillia Benitez and Omega Pirates Guild. Quote:Hermanos, it is me. Don Emillio! You know me, I am sure. And if you don't know me, you must have heard of me. I am the one that burned that pendejo right in the middle of public square in Cadiz when he said we should try and make peace with Outcasts. Good times, good times. There we go. I dont see how would anyone with post like this get rejected at least not immediatley. It took me 5 min to write it. If more of them were like this, I think things would ease down. Montezuma is one of examples of capship pilots that doesn't cause mess. at least from what i saw. Battleships- a solution - n00bl3t - 09-03-2009 ' Wrote:Actually, "asking" for a battleship would be this. Why, because you paid 500 million for it? Or your role-play dictates it? Battleships- a solution - JIVA - 09-03-2009 @Ivan: what if the late "akumibato" had written this request? - would have given him the license? - or would your forum bias had prevented it. ( or more recently the "karlotta char" ) all provided that the char its requested for has a proper RP name, and makes a reasonable and inRP request of course. - if you now say that you would not have given akumibato a license... i d ask you.. "why"? cause you think he messes up due to what he did in the past? - cause its unpopular to do so? - THOSE are the basic questions its mostly about. - the common players won t have a problem. ( even if its you that decides what is a good rp request and what is not ) |
