Rheinland model - Cyberanson - 09-12-2009 Here is a start of how this thing would look like with original textures: ![]() What do you think? Rheinland model - Weedalot - 09-12-2009 what you did was better. I liked the light textures better. Rheinland model - Turkish - 09-12-2009 Much, much more congruent with the vanilla ships. The mapping is excellent and it should fit into the line very nicely if you continue this way. Rheinland model - Jinx - 09-12-2009 the major difference is... the rheinland skins look like a patchwork of multiple armour plates that just happen to be of slightly different shade / colour - creating this effect of an uneven surface and as a side product - creating a bit of "camouflage" that makes up the military feel. your skin, while detailed and accurate, too - looks like its a plain surface that is "painted" in a camouflage fashion. the updated image of the front section looks more "freelancerish", cause it now looks like the known patchwork, too. the net effect is that it looks "worn" and somewhat "old" though. - if one uses the rheinland skins, ships will never really looks like they are of recent developement. - so i think you just have to decide on a roleplay level. - do you want the ship to look "new"? - then you can use your skin - but i d suggest to dye it a bit to look slightly darker ( 10 - 15% darker maybe ) if you want it to "fit into the rheinland ships" better, you should use the rheinland skins - but it wouldn t look "new" then. personally, i d go for the older, generic rheinland look - especially when its supposed to be a troop transport, cause the idea of a troop transport is not a class that suggests something innovative, something totally new. - if it was an ion-beam frigate or a planetkiller newly developed, i d go for a "new" look. Rheinland model - Cyberanson - 09-12-2009 It is nearly finished... but to be honest: it is ugly, isn't it?
Rheinland model - SSD - 09-12-2009 nope its not, but the texture you made was better looking on this one. much better Rheinland model - schlurbi - 09-12-2009 Pretty awesome. The only negative thing is that you cant see the Rheinland Sign anymore. Rheinland model - Turkish - 09-12-2009 It looks fantastic, don't doubt that. It very much expresses Rheinland now. I would suggest fixing the warping on the forward side panels though. And then look at some UTF glow options. Rheinland model - Shagohad - 09-12-2009 What will its cargo be? Rheinland model - Cyberanson - 09-13-2009 Okay, finished: ![]() Here my own textures: ![]() Well, Jinx already said it: mine looks more like the ship of a private soldier company, while the original textures let this ship fit perfectly into the Rheinland shipline. What comes next? Hitbox/SUR or hardpoints? Forthermore: can I prevent MS3D and work completely in Blender? That would be great. |
