The Tech Chart - Pancakes - 05-02-2011

' Wrote:I think the main problems with the tech chart are
1)it is another set of rules that exists on the forums and not in-game
2)it promotes combinations that developers didn't envisage.
3)every player has at least one problem with it, which means that everyone will find fault in some aspect of it.
4)players tend to request changes that benefit themselves and not others

Some solutions (These would require significant help from players in e.g. rewriting infocards.)

We make all guns and/or ships generic and remove faction descriptions from them.
We make all ships the same stats with different categories.
We make all guns the same stats with different categories.
We let factions decide on the colours of the cells - not for what they have access to but what others can access from them.
We insist that factions are pure tech and end deals for other factions to use stuff.
We remove the tech chart completely and insist that you must use your faction's own stuff.

An easier solution would be to remove the Sabre completely.

Edit:
Or maybe we leave it as it is and accept that we can't have everything.
Also, stop bumping the thread please.

Factions don't decide on the color of the cells now? if not, would be nice to let them decide.
And god, please, remove REMOVE.

Or simply make the Sabre (along with the Switchblade and Scimitar) into an Outcast-specific ship and give it a new name / infocard.

I can't honestly think of a single faction who HAS to use the Sabre now a days, with the notable exception of the Outcasts so... yeah, think about it. The Hessians has their own line, the Zoners will get their own line, mercs can use civilian ships or just request ships from whatever special buddies they have in their favorite factions and the Bundies are getting their own ships as well.

Removing the Sabre must coincide with the creation of an Outcast-specific fighter line (one way or the other) or one of the largest unlawful factions will be left without a line of fighters which they can call their own... which is just inane. But hey, I suppose Blodo would approve. Sarcasm.

And those are my two pence, as always.

I think you missed Athenian's sarcasm, DJ.

Bundschuh? LWB? Hackers(they got their own ships but no VHF)?

Just to name a few examples.

edit: wrong account TheJarl here

And why do the Outcasts HAVE to use the Sabre? Because its op? It will probably be more balanced in 4.86, at least I hope it will. The Outcasts should simply get their shipline, I dont see why that shipline HAS to be the Sabre, do you?

I also dont see a problem with the Hessians flying only Odins. Hell, at least thats gonna give me a reason to get on my Odin more.

They're still ships though.:P

I am aware of the sarcastic content of his post, but I still thought it'd be a good time to bring forth an idea which has been rather prominent in my mind as of late.

Oh, and I think you're overlooking the content of .86, Jarl. Quite a lot of things are being added which could be used to justify the removal of the Borderworld line from the common IDs such as... pirates and mercs. No doubt it'd lessen the amount of complaints being produced regarding the ship.

Giving the days of Sabres loaded with dumb stuff which just makes it overpowered a fond peck on the cheek before sending it off into the sun would be a good thing. But removing it all together... not so much.

The Borderworld line is the Outcast line, that's why we use it... I sincerely hope that you aren't forgetting the fact that it's been sold on an Outcast base, been flown by Outcast NPCs and shown as the choice for Outcasts since vanilla.

By the way, I wasn't complaining about the Odin, I was merely saying that the Hessians got their own line. Don't be overly-defensive.

Oh and btw, no the Bundies are not getting their own shipline as far as I know.

Yes, I'm sorry... I didn't do my research there. But hell, they ought to have their own ship line.

I disagree. Maybe 1 ship at maximum, but not a whole shipline. The Bundschuh is smaller than the other Rheinland unlawfuls and also less focussed on combat.

The Tech Chart - Prysin - 05-02-2011

sabre was never OP to begin with... just that the PVP whores that fly it make everyone else cry.
