No, it is not redundant. There are several different versions of a machine that are all called "PS3." Some can play older playstation games, some can not. To say "PS3s are not backwards compatible" would be wrong. To say the opposite would be wrong. To say it the way I said it, would be right.

when making a large purchase, especially in electronics, i tend to do ALOT of research. it just so happens i've had to take a bit longer in saving up for this one, so i've had extra time to debate over it.
