Cloak bug - Blackvertigo1 - 06-30-2012 ' Wrote:What? You mean, small, medium, and large cloaks all had a pre-set charging time (of 15, 30 and 60 seconds), that's hardcoded into the game, and all these 3 types of cloaks were in vanilla? Indeed. Except they are about 5 - 12 secs. Not more than half a minute. Cloak bug - Knjaz - 06-30-2012 ' Wrote:Indeed. Dammit. Well, that means, you can't reduce those, i.e. you can't make ships cloak faster. But can you increase charging time with FLHook magic? I'm totally not into programming/script writing or any other development moments, but isn't it possible, in theory, to make a script with a timer that will start the charging of a cloak? Not sure if it's possible to add that kind of thing into Controls, to bind a hotkey, but I think it's definitely should be possible through command. like, you do /cloak on then x time passes, then cloak starts charging up. Cloak bug - Blackvertigo1 - 06-30-2012 ' Wrote:Dammit. If your saying that you want to delay time between /cloak on and the actual cloak mechanism, then yes. That's possible. Well, then it's definitely possible to implement, which means there's at least one alternative to current cloak mechanics and role, that will allow to negate the bug if the problem becomes too serious and renders them less useful then they're intended to be by Devteam. Cloak bug - Mímir - 07-01-2012 Has this been submitted to the devs? We should gather evidence and submit a proper report and see what they can conjure up, before talking about changing the tactical aims of the cloaks (which should be changed if this bug cannot be negated). Cloak bug - Berny - 07-01-2012 Found this bug long before you announced it, just didn't know how to use it - people were trying to use it against me multiple times. Well, thruster here helps a lot, cause - even without cloak, you can gain a few k away from your enemy. Means 3k with cloak will be a peace of cake. BS/cruiser missiles are a bit harder due to long range and slow projectiles. Either way, bomber with 100 cargo can easily escape this. Of course, you loose half of fuel just to thrust away enough if there're more then just one spammers. Didn't know how to use it - thanks for announcing - I might need it against you some day. Also, I don't think BSs will be having easy time with this. It's clearly a bug. But since I only use cloak on bombers and am a merc when without it - sure, call it a feature, I don't mind. There was needed some kind of counter system - to be developed or discovered. And here comes a bug - keep your window half blind, but get ability to semi-track cloakers. Should also reduce abuse for re-engaging cloaking carriers and BSs to bring b/b 10-20 times a fight. Cloak bug - Mímir - 07-01-2012 ' Wrote:Wait, I completely over looked the thread title; Scan ship while it cloaks/before it cloaks (default key is 'o' I believe) and it will stay on your scanner after it cloaked, so missiles/CD's keep tracking it, even though the ship is fully invisible, Cloak bug - Blackvertigo1 - 07-01-2012 ' Wrote:Scan ship while it cloaks/before it cloaks (default key is 'o' I believe) and it will stay on your scanner after it cloaked, so missiles/CD's keep tracking it, even though the ship is fully invisible, Answer: ' Wrote:This is a HARDCODED problem. Cloak bug - Mímir - 07-01-2012 So you don't reckon there would be a workaround, or is this a hardcoded definite limitation to cloaks that will always be there no matter what? If the latter is truly the case, cloaks should be re-thought in the way Knjaz suggested.
